Piggy back fuse under dash fusebox.

Featured Replies

Fixed a cigarette lighter socket in the fuse box for connecting satnav.

Trouble is used a piggy back fuse and the fuse cover wont go on now as fuse sticks out to far.

Could use an inline fuse but didn't want poke a wire in the fuse holder and risk a dodgy connection. Any body found a good way around this problem?

Mine fitted ok and shuts. Where have you plugged your fuse in?

I did the same and didn't have any issues either.

Tried it in a few available sockets and still the cover wont go on its hitting it. Looking where yours is, it is a standard size and not the mini isn't it?

Wondering if your piggy back fuse perhaps doesn't stick out as far as this one. As yours got 2 slots for 2 fuses? Could do with one with just one slot then it wouldn't stick out as far. What a pain for a simple job

Mine is a double one-its just that I used a blank fuse mounting to save disturbing anything and risking getting some warning lights come up or something stopping working. I got mine off ebay IIRC it wasfrom this supplier.

Same here, got it from the same seller so cant understand this. Totally baffled.

I too couldn't close mine when I tried one of these so I opted for the route langers2k took (I was originally going to use the piggy back as a temporary solution, and wire it properly later, but my OCD wouldn't allow the cover to stay off!!).

It is pretty easy really and obviously looks more OEM.

I seem to remember trimming some of the strengthening ribs on the inside of the cover on mine to stop it pressing against the piggy back fuse when the cover is fitted. I will pop the cover off and get a photo at some point if I remember.

I was kind of thinking that way myself. Bit drastic tho. Might stick an inline fuse in and just poke the wire in. Hate doing a bodge job but when needs must.

Wonder if the cover was changed on later models? seems strange sum fit and some don't. There is a bit of give in the fuse box so wonder if some have rammed the cover shut and are oblivious to the fact its actually forcing the fuse box back under pressure?
