  • Are we having these sort of discussion about every new car available now?  :p   Complete with Keith's copy and paste efforts!    As for the XE, a good friend of mine has one as a company car since

  • Again, Keith? Really?

  • Just as a bit of a generalisation but the Modern Jag seems to now be the car of choice of Business Trampers that want to have their car inside the back seat of yours, having taken over from Audis as t

Nice as a Company Car.

Worth looking for ones 2 years down the line when they are handed back in, Much Cheapness as a Keeper.

If buying used ones from the last 2 years,

Look out for ones from used by the Police & other similar users,

There should be plenty used cars around, a glut actually and a Bargain could be had,

just ignore what the Sales person tells you, they are not much different from any other Middle Management Company car.

Lots around to choose from.

It will be interesting to see what competitive offer packages are about on initial take up., as breaking into the Audi, BMW market stronghold.

It does look like the will be Cheap as Chips as the build them nice, pile them high and punt them out.

The German Manufacturers are having the Money Market Crisis problem, Image issues as the Company Car Drivers in the UK

make other drivers dislike the Brand they drive, because of they way they drive them,

and then there is the Black Hole ordering Issues.

So if JLR can be sure to have cars ready to delivery quickly they could be onto a winner.

A UKIP Approved Company car.

(looks British, but has not much to do with the UK.)

Looks a nice car and the poverty spec base model will be well equipped for under £27k. How much is a well equipped Octavia III ?

Prices of the German motors might drop a bit with the Euro.

I like the Jag, seems to be nippy too for 'only' having ~160 hp.

I think myself if I was going to get an Indian Jag it'd still be the XF.

Looks nice but there is a hell of a price jump up to the XE-S :-(

What deals to be done!?

What deals to be done!?

Looks like it is 44k without any options? If they can knock the best part of £10k off it might be worth a look....

Having said that it's barely anymore powerful than the M135i so I'm not sure there would be much point for me.

Growing family touring motor Tom . May be future plan for you?

For that kind of price I'd far prefer to have an M2 on my drive. I quite like SWMBO pedalling the family touring wagon so will press ahead with my plan for her to get a Golf R Estate lol

Thing is, no one has company cars any more, it's a car allowance so you get to choose. Just because JLR is owned by Tata does not make it irrelevant to the UK, mostly because of the number of jobs for the UK based suppliers (that also feed Toyota, Nissan, Honda, BMW). Automotive industry in the UK easily employs over a million people, so buying British manufactured is highly significant if you these things are important to you.

I was speaking to a guy with one the other day - says he's had nothing but trouble. Gearbox problems (auto), Bluetooth and electrical problems and rattles galore! He says once it's done it's time he's going back to BMW.

Worth checking out the XE Owners club website then if considering.

Seen a few on the road, look quite nice.

Majority i've seen must be poverty spec ones because the alloys are ridiculously small; not a massive amount of room in the back either.

Just read some owners club threads, no real mention of ZF autobox issues, some mention of wiring loom problems but nothing major as far as I can tell

Looks great but as with all Jaguar Land Rover vehicles it will go wrong once it's about three or four years old and be an expensive piece of unreliable c?&p. Sorry but that's just a fact, I've had two Jags and a land rover so I know from personal experience.

Good to see now you have a premium brand with built in reliability and longevity,

or at least was cheap.

really loving the new Jags tbh. Are the Jags getting better.. or am i just getting abit older?

Id have the F-Type R over nearly everything. its bloody lovely.

The first model above the SE (Cloth seats) with a few options (not really needed) is the same price as an Octy III elegance with some options (Leather, Xenons etc).

So a well loaded Octy III and XE are similar money.

The Octy has an estate, the XE not yet.

The Octy has 0% finance, which provides much cheapness for the finance offering at the moment.

I'd had had an XE if it hadn't been for the finance deal, although when the sporting break comes in and it's no longer the new car of the moment, I might still be tempted to trade the Octy in for one.

I had a 3.0v6 auto box go mad on me, which was rubbish, but the manual XE I drive was lovely. Bluetooth worked just fine, electrical bits didn't misbehave and there wasn't a single rattle.

I think it's just a case of as with all marques, you do get some lemons.

What'll be more interesting is how the dealers deal with it.
