Will stick with my mk2 for now, will be following its developments with interest!

That looks almost sexual!! Ford are on to something good with that.

Lovely.

Still not 2015 yet,  so we will have a bit of a wait then.

Looking forward to what the Focus ST Diesels are like.

Looks a smart bit of kit.

Front looks a bit like a kia pro cee'd if you ask me.

does look nice,

I'm not sure about the looks of that tbh, seems almost abit cheap and plasticky. Time will tell when we see it in the flesh/metal.

But guys, wait up...330bhp it's only FWD!! :)

Right! Better get mine mapped soon.....

Unfortunately for Ford ,VW are already 100+ horses ahead and a year in development! R400!

Also RS3 Audi will be along soon, with it's 5pot!

However, the base model of the Ford RS is £24k yes 24k! Cheaper than a S1? Come on Audi get real with the S1 pricing

The golf will probably have a 50k + price tag. So the focus is still the no brainer, especially after the embarrassment from seat.

No approx. £39k -41k, I believe but I get your point, as you can see about my comment on the S1

The pics are just autotrader mock ups, I hope it has 3 doors, but will miss the 5 pot growl in the new Eco booster :(

Clever diff though innit

Makes magic happen iirc

I see there is an 2 litre engine with some power going in the Superb,  so thats one sorted for the Octavia as well probably,

and that can help reduce Skoda being the Poor Boy of the Volkswagen Group.

'Vision', Simply clever,

or actually just simply pedestrian?

What are we calling 'some power' mate?

276 ps or is that bhp petrol.   so pretty good when in a lighter Octavia if that is what they will build next year.

Obviously not 300 ps,  but then Skoda is not VW or Audi.

You mean revoknuckle? The actual diff lock concept is unsurprisingly similar, given neither car manufacturer designed it themselves.... Ultimately it doesn't matter how clever it is, the traction from fwd cannot be as high as 4wd everything else being equal.

It cant be as high as 4wd no, obv.

But if its being clever, it makes it much more drivable doesnt it.

As i said n another thread. I've been in a 300bhp 07 plate leon and it wasnt at all good.

But theres weight to be saved too of course.

See my comments on speccing up. VAG is really clever at model differentiation and roll over new model sales, so golf gti, gti+, R, 400. There are a core group of buyers that will trade up soon after the new model launch, that's the vw and to some extent the seat demograph. Audi is in a different more emotionally aspirational space, and is less sensitive to model wave upselling, (yes you golf 400 buyers, you've been snared by the vw marketing plan). I have thought that a remapped cupra 265 might have been a better strategy financially, given the desire of the dealers to sell you a new car whatever.

The electronic diff in the 07 leon is a world apart from the mechanical one fitted to the cupra and the golf gti+, this one is specced ready for a fwd cupra r. I cannot see VAG marketing it as 4wd as they have invested in the mechanical diff. This is why ford haven't offered 4wd, they've invested too much already internally and with suppliers in 2wd tech. Belive me, the LSD in my car is far from stretched.

I never said it was? I said it 'makes magic happen'.

There are huge Differences between ,like, need, must have and your word snared!

I can desire the Golf R 400,but my brain say ,does it make economic sense.

That stage has not yet been reached until the hardware arrives to be tested and then my emotional ,common sense and  financial processes will kick in.

I am never trapped in any ones snare, just my own liking of the car.

That mind set comes after many years, as an  Engineering Manager /Director , justifying investments.

However, it is nice to let the kid in you come out!

I should have added the smiley face, as my tongue was in my cheek somewhat, and wasn't aimed at you personally! The new model wave each one upselling existing owners into a newer more expensive model by deliberately phasing the launches is classic marketing designed to part you with your cash - I've fallen victim to it, as maybe I should have waited for the Cupra R oir Golf 400 also (but I'll probably go down the remap route to get to roughly the same point with something less nickable)

Likewise, 20 years working as a sales manager / director for automotive tier 1 suppliers make me extremely cynical about the car manufacturers marketing. I have a good understanding of what (and what doesn't) goes into large bits of them.

i want this :D just saying !
