Oooh, it's arrived (new vRS)

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, I'm back with Skoda again after a bit of a hiatus (spent the last 2 years or so, unhappily with a Mazda 3), and my new Octavia vRS TDI arrived today! I've previously had a Mk2 FL Octy vRS, and before that a Mk1 Fabia vRS (both diesel).

Was never happy with the Mazda 3 Sport for various reasons, but am now the proud owner of a 64-plate vRS TDI hatchback in de-facto 'Race Blue' metallic (red interior trim).

Specced options include: KESSY, colour maxi-dot, sunset glass, 'black pack' and of course a spare wheel. Waiting time was about 5 months. Would have loved to spec a load of other stuff (including Amundsen) but I'm stretching my budget as it is.

Just taken it for a brief spin, and one word: "magic!" Lovely car. I'm delighted with it, and very happy to be back with Skoda again.

Mildly annoyed that they have turned the lower-bumper DRLs of the Mk2 FL into a sort of 'fog lights', and it seems to be missing auto wipers (thought they were standard?) but it has come with voice-control (Bolero) which surprised me. And I'm also annoyed it doesn't appear to have 'power folding outside mirrors' as standard neither. I get the feeling the factory-standard spec changed between my ordering it, and the factory actually making it.

Oh well, it's a lovely machine all the same. Well happy with it.

Happy Christmas everyone. Mine just got a bit happier!

Very nice, I collected my Black vRS two weeks ago.

The auto-wipers should be standard - they are activated by moving the wiper stalk to the first (intermittent) position. The sensitivity is adjusted by the lever on the top of the stalk. I don't think that the vRS ever did come with electric folding mirrors as standard.

Nice car mate, wish mine looked as clean as yours

I have the same car as you but with white stitching

I will keep an eye open for you as I spend a lot of time in Leigh, and then get dragged into Wigan (wrong side of the lump for me) to go shopping and visit friends.

enjoy the motor

Thanks Chappers, you're right, it does have 'rain sensing' wipers, I've just noticed the option in Infotainment. The labelling on the stalk threw me. Well, plenty of rain about now to test it...

As for the 'auto folding mirrors' ... yeah, maybe just wishful thinking on my part then. Oh well, nvm.

@mr mojo - thanks mate, though I work in Liverpool, so don't often get into Wigan so much.

Pfff, who in their right mind would buy a fuel-guzzler like that... a greenline has more than enough 'oomph' for current day traffic and that color is just _screaming_ for attention.. and wait until you see the first garage bills!

Nice one dude! (you can never have too much horsepower!)

Very nice, and in the second best colour  :D  :D  :D

Enjoy, I'm on 22.5k miles in my 346bhp VRS TSI DSG fuel guzzler that can only achieve 40mpg and 0-60 in 5 seconds, Skoda you should be ashamed of yourselves for making such a cracking car  :D  :D  :D

Yes that's a lovely car and colour, only wish I had one like it... :cocktail:
