I don't want to be rude, it's a really nice project, but as an alternative, IMHO, this would be the perfect solution for doing such things (for a lazzy persone  ).

I bought one of those cd slot mount tablet holder in the time when I was using a Blackberry as the main phone and an Android tablet for navigation and other multimedia purposes in the car. Due to the fact a tablet is big enough and takes lots of visibility if fitted on the windscreen, I had to find a way to relocate it and this was the most efficient way for me. A bluetooth receiver was involved as well. :)

Nice idea, be great for me if my damn stereo had a CD player :( Need to think of a non intrusive way to do that!

It took me less than 30 seconds to google it around:

Oh wow a tape deck, haven't seen one of those in a few years :p I need to look at a way of attaching it through the air vents i think, the head unit only has USB, iPhone/android support and AUX, i saw no point in getting a CD one now as i don't think i've used a CD in about 4 years!

I have seen a few magnet holders, anyone here used them?

never used a magnet holder but I can tell you a magnet would make perfect sense.. especially if using an iPad.. the metal back is very secure with the little magnets used.

if not I had a spider mount a while ago that went in the vent, that was pretty secure.

Cheers :) Will look into this.

  • 4 years later...

I did not want to have anything permanent and keep all original so this was the best method I could come up with 🤔 ..... if you happen to have a similar looking head unit !
