I have a Spaceback with the glass roof. Is it possible to retrofit the sunglasses holder? If so can anyone tell me the part number? 

No the roof takes the space up

It's a shame because the glass roof version is a very attractive car, but I also find the sunglasses holder extremely useful!

 

Maybe something like this would be useful if  your dash is black and not the VW grey that some cars are blessed with.

I have one in my car but I wish that they had made it bigger. I wear the wrap around style of sunglasses and they're too deep front to back to fit so mine live in the front cubby hole

I just wanted to add the same comment, my sunglasses don't fit in the sunglasses holder, so I don't have anything in there.

I can't get mine in there either.
