Spare parts (wing mirrors)

Featured Replies

Unfortunately my first post is a negative :(

Some ****** decided that the driver side wing mirror needed removing from the car whilst my wife was parked. Just had a look at it and the damage is somewhat negligible but a real pain, black plastic surrounding mirror is cracked, the clear plastic indicator strip is broken (I have half of it) and the bottom half black plastic doesn't sit correctly.

Luckily the electrics seem to work ok but I'm having real problems sourcing any parts for the mk3. Short of contacting the dealer and ordering a whole new part (god knows how much that will cost), any suggestions as where to look for replacement parts? I've tried the obvious ones online but no one seems to stock mk3 parts.

Just get the individual parts you need form your dealer, no need to buy the full assembly.

You can get a pair of black mirror covers from Superskoda for €40...

.....but dont think they include the indicator repeaters.

Skoda parts online, part of Bickerton in Sheffield, are showing this....

..which I think might do the trick for an extra £22 plus £5 delivery so for less than £60 you got yourself a black pack upgrade!

However, before going down this route, have you tried the parts dept at your dealer, you might be pleasantly surprised, parts tend to be quite reasonable, its only when you add labour charges do the bills go through the roof!

speak to TPS,

my dealer for my van sent me to TPS when I went to parts counter, so I've used TPS in Milton Keynes everytime since then..... it's where the dealers get the parts from anyway

I have had a both mirrors removed from my van several times each when parked :-(

the parts were relatively cheap for that (its a 2010 VW T5)  £16 for cowling top, £13 for cowling bottom, and £110 for casting with electric adjustment etc

cowlings on the van are unpainted so they'll be more.... but I didnt think even the price of the casting was as bad as I expected.  I've got bits for the T5 and our altea from there in the past

(though I've just finished another rewire in Oxford and both mirrors are needing new cowlings again :-( )

Excellent, cheers for the help. I'm keen to just replace the parts that are broken so I'll use these links to start tracking the parts down.

Not sure the missus will go for the black upgrade though :)

Good call on the parts department at the skoda garage. Went past with the car and they agreed with my 'diagnosis' of what parts I'd need, ordered them 10am and had them by 9am next morning.

Now to fit the parts! (handy video showing how the unit dissasembles)
