Music on memory card---Help required

Featured Replies

Morning everyone,

I have the Amundsen Sat nav system fitted to my 2012 CR Vrs with a slot for a memory card and now I have moved from an iphone to a Samsung I would like to put my music on a card.

The music itself is on itunes and being a technophobe can anyone tell me-

1- What type of card I need

and

2- How I go about putting the music on the card from itunes

I hope that someone out there can help because I cannot listen to a minute more of my 2 teenage  music!!!!!!

SDHC card up to 32Gb (possibly even 64Gb) Class 10 works well.

The music needs to be in MP3 format to work on the Amundsen so it depends on what format you imported the music from CD into iTunes.

If it's not in MP3 format in the iTunes library, I use MediaHuman software (free) to make the conversion and export straight to SD card.

It can do a large amount in one go and keep the file structure as well.

I dumped Itunes about a year ago as it is all so impossible to integrate with anything else non apple. In itunes I used the 'export Mp3' or 'convert Mp3'  option which is in itunes somewhere, sorry cant remember exactly where, i'm sure there's an online guideto find it, and it did a good conversion. Now I'm in the much simpler world of drag and drop with all  my music. (Apart from the large vinyl collection!)

Just remember when converting from compressed music format to another you lose even more quality. By far the best solution is to re-rip the CD collection in

MP3 format using at least 256kbps, maybe even 320kbps. At least if you need to down convert you do not lose as much music detail.

Of course if you have bought a load of music from iTunes then the only way to get it out is to convert it.

Half the problem with people complaining of poor sound quality is down to poor conversion resulting in poor files to begin with.

I also do not use iTunes for music, despite being a mac user.

All my music is held on a Windows server running Plex Media server in MP3 or FLAC lossless format, and I stream it from anywhere in the world. All I need is 3G or a WIFI connection on my phone/tablet or macbook, the last count was more than 200GB of music.
