Turns out it wasn't the coil pack...further problems lie ahead..

Featured Replies

Right as a few of you know I recently replaced my coil packs on my VRS, as now and again when I put my foot down it'd hold back and either the EML would flash and sometimes stay on or both EML and EPC light would come and and go in safe mode.  I have replaced all 4 coils along with spark plugs and still getting this problem.  Now when RAC came out last he said if it does happen again then it's worth looking at the wires leading to Coil 3, I'm not mechanically minded so wouldn't have a clue where to start.  I'm wanting to take it to Skoda and leave it there until it's repaired but I'm not willing to pay out X amount or anything for that matter as it's nothing I've done.

Any help please?  Will be phoning Skoda later to see what they say.

Hi Naths,

Sorry to hear about your problems. I'm in Derby (near east midlands airport) so would just like to let you know that the (free) offers there if you wanted your car plugging into VCDS and a full scan doing or some logs taking?

ps, i dont know your state of warranty, if youve already scanned it etc so sorry if the offer is of no use :)

The car is one of the first built in the UK,  yes.  ?

How many miles covered now.?

You changed the Plugs yourself,  at how many miles,

and what plugs and what Gap did you set?

Are you sure those coils you fitted are OK,

 what were they?

Has your car had a ECU Update in any of the first Services,

or since?

Yeah that's the car offski, it was an early one.

around 56K, (spark)plugs were changed on last service in July-August.

I presume so, they were brand new coils, and I've swapped them al l about still coming back with #3.

Not as I know of.

Sorry i thought you replaced,

who did it,  & what Spark Plugs & what coils.

Has the ECU ever been updated?

You need someone you can trust to check it out for you.

?

Does it have a Standard Air Filter, or Induction, or anything else modified on it?

Off Topic sorry, but.

Did your car need or get the DSG Service Campaign work doing?

PS   Sorry on phone.

The engine does need a ECU Update really if it is running the Map from 2010, there have been updates,

& a Skoda Dealership service the car should have done it at the Major / Inspection service,

and then since then if not done.

As to finding the reason for the misfire,

you need to be sure all 4 spark plugs are changed, and the gap was checked,

and that one Plug failing is not causing a coil to fail.

then from that point, more can be checked,

Cylinder Compression etc.
