Clonking on the rear end help needed

Featured Replies

Hi I seem to be getting cloning on the rear end of my Fabia when going over a bump or say like coming off a drop curb. It's quite aloud clonk and it happens regularly any advice?

I've got a bit of a knocking noise coming from the rear, after a little investigation it turns out my rear bump stops look like this...

I'm guessing the knocking noise is the plastic dust cover moving about as it's very loose and looks like the bump stop isn't far of splitting.

Could be worth looking at on yours to see if it's the same, common issue from what I've read!

Could also be a knackered shock absorber or axle beam bush.

Loose wheel nuts?

Loose wheel nuts?

Never overlook the obvious, eh?

one customer wondered why her car was sitting odd and handling like a boat, she'd been to a tyre shop and not checked the nuts after 50 miles and one worked loose and the pressure worked the others loose, very close call.

Safe to say whe I showed the woman the movement between wheel and hub she realised what she hadn't done

Something like that happened to me what I was a young lad. Changed a wheel on mums car and forgot to tighten it up when the car was on the ground. Needless to say it hasn't happened since!!

That happened to me at How Fast last year at Bedford.

Had tyres changed on Friday afternoon in Southampton, drove to bedford did an hour or so on track and found my front passenger wheel bolts were just about ready to fall out.

Yeah happened in dads van too although I caught it quite early, that's why they say what they say about checking after 50 miles
