egr blanking plates.....confused :(

Featured Replies

After my turbo change i fitted some blanking plates on the egr valve as well as the turbo side. I noticed I have some hesitation at low rev (like turbo lag). After doing research online I've read that the blanks should have a hole drilled in them, the vacuum pipe on the egr valve should be pulled off and blanked.

My question is what should actually be done?

cheers guys, I'm off to rest my head :( lol.

Yup normally there is a hole drilled in the blanking plate to stop the EML light from coming on. And then plug the vacuum pipe with a small ball bearing or something.

Cheers a7788, I would have thought the company selling these plates would have told me that when I asked 'is it simply take egr to turbo pipe off and fit these' lol. Guess a 6mm hole would be okay?

I have these ones

How long have you had it fitted and has the EML light come on at all?

6mm should be fine mate.

Few weeks. Yeah the EML has come on. Came on during my first long run of the new turbo.

I thought you fit a revised egr gasket plate with a smaller hole to stop the shudder at 1800/2000revs when toodling around?

Revised gasket and blanking plate are 2 different things??

Maybe wrong though lol :D

To stop eml coming on. Simply map out :)

As above, blanking plates and the gasket with a hole are different things.

If your fitting blanking plates the pipe between manifold and EGR valve should be removed, and the EGR mapped out.

If you've removed the pipe from manifold to EGR valve you don't want to be drilling holes in either of the blanking plates!! :)

Whilst on this topic does anyone know the part number or where to get the revised egr gaskets from as I sometimes get stutter ... Cheers

Sorry just at the links in the above comments and the gasket is there thanks

Cheers mate that's what I needed to know lol. I was looking online and seeing all these blanking plates with holes in them but it seems like there a 75% blank and slot in between the egr valve and the pipe to the turbo.
