Highest mileage vRS - stock & mapped?

Featured Replies

Just purely out of interest, what kind of mileage are people doing/have done in their Fabia vRS?

Wondering the long termgevity of these engines?

Also, for those that have had theirs mapped, how many miles have you done now and since they were mapped?

I got mine in December 2011 and am just coming up to the 40,000 mile mark. Apart from a bit of oil usage, all is well so far.

Approaching 90K miles/ 150K Kms on mine.

Uses little oil.

Gearbox gets confused sometimes but generally OK.

I gather the design criteria is for 400K Kms on these items.

did 50,000 miles in my first one, and no issues. got 35k on the new one. I intend to keep it, so will be going over 100k

56k. Would have been keeping it for a long while yet, had my tribe/family not been increasing.

I feel like an under-achiever.... 33,000km (a bit over 20,000 miles).

Th3Grinch,  Love it,

but i think he means with only one engine, maybe the original.

There are 90,000 mile plus Seat Ibiza Cupra Twinchargers on original CAVE Engines still.

I know one 2010 Seat with 110,000 miles that has been stage 1 for 80,000 miles now.

It does not drink oil, but has a new Oil filter every 6,000 miles or so, and oil changed every 12,000 miles now with Mobile 1.

Just interested in which ever engine people have currently got in the car at the moment, not combined mileage from more than one engine. :)

As if they're not on the original, obviously it didn't last that long unfortunately. Sorry, that probably wasn't very clear!

90,000miles is impressive 'lol-lol'!

Interesting to hear if any other components are prone to going wrong once they're past a certain age/mileage.

Er, first registered on 30/09/10 - currently on 23,500*, so I've still a bit to go yet...(hopefully :p).

*I bought it on 9,500 when it was a year old - I've done a grand total of 14,000 in over three years!

Just keep up regular servicing with good parts,

filters & fluids and it should be fine well up into the high mileages.

The engine is just basically the same Block & Internal Components as other 1.4 TSI / TFSI that put out less possible power

and have different set ups Turbo or Turbo & Supercharger & Engine Management.

Remapping is not going to reduce the longevity of the engine unless you are maybe taking full advantage of the possible 200 +bhp,

the engine might well be running more efficiently.

Everyone uses cars differently,

and one person can do high mileages sympathetically, and others can thrash engines and they still last,

while some kill engines & drivetrains easily.

Maintenance & Servicing regularly or at the first sign of issues is often the only difference.

My mate has a 2011 ibiza cupra which has been mapped think that's on 50,000 with no problems

my first one was cave with 50k, my second with 35k is cthe , my cthe uses a little more oil than my did! lol...

  • 2 months later...

Anyone with a higher mileage Twincharger than lol-lol's ?

95k currently but adding at around 1k a week.

Such a nice place to cruise with.

Revs 3k in 7th at indicated 80, true 77-ish.

Mpg low 40s, range after venting around 450 miles, hard to match anywhere else in the market for a 7s to 60 mph car that cost £15K to buy.

Seats comfortable as well the engine noise low with the growl and howl when you want it.

If only there were more Tescos Momentum fuel stations closer to the motorway network.

Nice one, may I suggest it being pinned?   Got/Will get some useful info gathered here.

55,000 km / 10,000 km stage 1, 2011 CAVE

Everything has been fine other than an inlet manifold being replaced at 43,000 under warranty, prior to the remap.

Mines on 35k but on 5k on the new engine. Not looking at changing it anytime soon. This is a Keeper!!!!

45k with 2-3 thousand miles mapped. Which is why I want to upgrade the coilpacks, anything to prolong the good health of the engine!

With regular 10k services and plug changes, hopefully the engine will keep going.

2,000 miles  :sun:

should be fine...... I am changing plugs every 10k, I think it will simply prevent any issues that may be caused by premature failure....

do you have a build thread? if not, just keep us updated how it goes, I want to remap when my warrenty runs out next year :)

From the sounds of things sharky you always get good engines so could probably leave it longer than 10k before changing the plugs! Mines probably fine as well but since it's been mapped, it's worth the extra few quid IMO to keep the parts reasonably fresh!

And no I don't have a build thread unfortunately, I keep meaning to get round to making one! Pretty happy with the car how it is, few more mods in mind though :)

Its such a cracking engine - I really think it's a gem. The noise from the twincharger is amazing - that compressor whine closely joined by the turbo spool whistle is really addictive.

Out of interest how do the cave and cthe engines differ in this department?

Edited by Wakey

pretty much the same in that department....

changers were pistons, oil breather systems, ECU's things like that .... turbo and supercharger, and the relevant piping are the same :)
