It's frightning the amount of fault codes for cars

Featured Replies

Just for hell of it I googled ovtavia mk2 fault codes....17 pages of them with about 100 on each, my god!!

It's really no wonder my mate has an old 80s cavalier and an 87 gsx11 he can do dam near everything on them

There's something to be said for old/er cars and bikes, if it doesn't work, have a look, take whatever it is off and clean or replace, job done!....and usually easy to get to

NOT where's the laptop or scanner, makes you wonder..

Its not just cars.

Boilers and other things too.

Just been to a boiler break down. 3 a4 pages full of fault codes

My book has 15 pages of them and it's 4 years out of date (home not work), the work database is probably about 30 pages generic ones and then we have brand specific ones too, joy oh joy. Changeover cars when OBD was introduced can sometimes be a PITA throwing false codes but you soon get to know the ins and outs, I think it's a lot better than older systems as it allows data monitoring showing history

Right....where my slips and hot choc :)

Same with tractors nowadays too. I saw a fault code on a Case I was on one day, came home and googled it out of curiosity and it was some sensor in the front axle. What happened to the days where the front axle was a mid mounted bar with 2 wheels bolted on it?

Exactly....technology, health and safety have went bloody mental that's what

Our forklifts(especially the electric ones) have a ridicoulse amount of fault codes....makes our job tracing faults easier i suppose :D

Until it throws a false one :P

Not sure about cars? But on boilers they only seem to give you a hint. You still end up tracing a majority of it yourself anyway, unless its something simple.

Aye or its nothing to do with the thing it says in the book

Depends some are spot on like one on the Jag, Throttle Position sensor signal voltage high was exactly that, but p1621 immobiliser fault was actually a dodgy earth
