Load sensor wire snapped

Featured Replies

Have has had problems for a while with losing power steering, car not starting and abs light. Happening more regularly now and read if battery light didn't come on when first turning key in ignition is probably load sensor wire snapped. I got under the car this morning and found a snapped wire and looks like the common fault but it looks like it's at the other side from pictures I have seen. Could anyone tell me if it is possible to fix this plug as the cable has snapped right at the plug or will I need a new plug and if so a part number if anyone knows it. Car is a W reg Fabia comfort 1.6 16v, any help appreciated. Pics below

I think what you will need to do is chop out the plug and get some extra lengths of wire to repair it.

That's what I did on my previous car (Cordoba PD130).

Also a good idea to shield it some how either by wrapping electrical tape round or heatshrink then cable tie it up so it doesn't rub. Leave some excess in the wire to allow it to move with the engine too.

thanks for the quick reply, that will definately be quickest and easiest way to fix it. Will try today hopefully and let you know how I get in

IMO you'd have to chop it out to dismantle it anyway. Then fettle new wires and connect it back up. Simpler to chop it out and redo with soldered or crimped and heatshrink.

Well I just got finished, just cut wires and added in another bit of wire, joined with electrical tape and then wrapped a load of tape round them, battery light lights up when I turn the key now and took it out for a quick drive and no problems at all. Will keep an eye on it and if it needs done better in the future will redo it, just glad to get to the bottom of the problem and a cheap fix. This is a really good forum, thanks for the input

Must be the week for the, breaking! I'd managed to snap 3 of the 4 wires on mine!
