Mid range American? 1987 Ford Fairmont or possibly Mustang?

It's that grill.....I thought (as above) XR4i but that grill is not right...

Hmmm.......

I think mender is on the right track - cosworth 3 door with after market grill (RS accessory range of the period or something)

Nope - its a Ford factory model.

I thought I'd tortured you enough with unremembered Japanese junk, BMC cars rebodied in Italy, and rare postwar Germans and Yanks, so I thought a relatively modern Ford was in effect throwing everyone a bone :giggle:

I've said XR4i (v6) so the only other model I can think of that had that grill was the South African only market XR8?

We have a winner.

5 door Sierra with the Ford XR4i / Merkur XR4Ti (why didn't I post that instead?) biplane rear wing - and, as you noticed, lots of extra holes in the front to cool the Mustang V8.

Now I've done some research I think I want it's predecessor the Cortina XR6.

That badboy has a triple webber Essex V6 with near on 160bhp.

Didn't they produce the Savage V6 mk3 after the 1600e based savage cortina as well?

Savage was a UK converted product from Race Proved Ltd run by Jeff Uren.  The XR6 (a lot rarer than the Mk2 Savages but not the Mk3) is a Ford factory product.

Both guesses wrong I think - neither has those external boot hinges and the glass is all wrong for the GK.

In fact the glass is so wrong I think it's probably a hardtop disguising a convertible.  Back to the drawing board...

Blimey.....I had hoped folk would have been slightly fooled by the glass and rear lights as per CamelSpyyder ;)

Yes - Citroen DS 19 GT. one of 12. Very unusual.

Your go Lesmond :)
