Will VCDS work with a Vauxhall Zafira ?

Featured Replies

Dont know the year but the engine warning light has come on, I do know its petrol. cheers - Stuart

As long as it has an OBD2 port you can plug in VCDS and use it as a generic scan tool to get the fault codes. The option is on the main home screen, none of the other options will work.

will I be able to clear the code

I've used it on a Vectra C to pick up and clear a code relating to a misfire.

Brill lets hope it works then, trying tomm night, is the zafira based on another VW group car ?

Vauxhall seem to like hiding the obdII socket. On the vectra b it is under the trim round the handbrake.

No mate best off using a opcom

whats 'opcom' ? and is as good as vcds ?

Yeah mate pretty much the same as

What car is it?

Where in uk are you?

If your near York I have opcom on laptop :)

Opcom CANT be used to enable things like the vcd can tho you need a tech II however the opcom will read and clear most of fault codes

The last time I tried plugging in to a car with OBD2 but wasn't a VAG car (or linked vaguely like the Ford Sharan TDI) it wouldn't see anything.  Surprised a Vauxhall could be connected to using VCDS to be honest.

Yeah same here with a Ford. Worth knowing it might work on a Vauxhall to read faults though.

Yeh I must  admit that I scanned a Fiat Punto and it read some data, I then read the same car about 6 months later and it wouldn't do anything, VCDS had changed the software !  but surely it must be able to read normal OBD2 data ?

Khm, according to my info, cheap OPCOM copies with old sw versions can't enable anything, but with newest versions quite a few things can be enabled.

Not sure about that as the opcom software it's self is only a reader and clearer not a writer on new codes..

I know things like cruise control and the extra setting on Astra g/hs can't be done via opcom

The copy I have was a gen copy for a chap on Vvoc called furby who is the top man as far as opcom goes.

For example here is a video of auto lock/unlock enabling with OP-COM:

DRL can be also adjusted, etc.

I managed to read the engine DTC’s from a Focus, didn’t try clearing them as it was due to go in for some warranty work so the DTC’s were needed.

How old was the Focus pls Gizmo?

Im pretty sure it was a 2008 (ish  :D  )

Our old girl is 2003 which might explain why I couldn't do similar.  Cheers
