Dont much like the evoque anyway. Horrible lookin thing IMO.

Having been similarly negative about the Evoque at first, having driven the neighbours a bit, I was pleasantly surprised how nice they are.   Perhaps I felt at home because the road and wind noise was so similar to my Octavia?

 

I was treated to the LandRover off road course at Rockingham this time last year and was greatly impressed with the off road performance - especially as it was extremely muddy and the car was on road tyres only.  We followed the guys being trained for the Environment Agency in a Defender, and could follow them on everything except where ground clearance was essential.  An excellent day out.

One of my employments was using a Series, and I have driven normal cars over thousands of miles of unmade roads, so not a complete noob.  As I said, an impressive performance.

 

As for the drop top, just ask yourself how many miles have been put on Series and Defenders with the top down.  Screen too.  So its not an entirely new development for LR.

No, it wouldn't be my choice, but its maybe what the market wants and if you don't satisfy the market, pack up and go home. 

Just ask all those now defunct British car producers. 

People like the high driving position of 4x4s.

People like the open top experience.

People like the look of the Evoque.

 

I'm sure this will sell nicely, and while it will cost more than I'm prepared to pay for a car I'd happily have one.

CEO - Oooh nice now lets make it a 4x4 coupé so weld up the back doors and stick 50% on the price

CEO -  fabby, now lets make it a 4x4, coupe, convertible, metallic shoite brown like my cords and stick 50% on that price

It doesn't look any worse than a normal Evoque.

 

That's not much of a recomendation mind!

That Evoque is probably one of the most rancid cars I have ever seen!

Maybe more for the U.S. market where they sell really well....
