Range Rover Evoque Convertible

Featured Replies

so JLR are joining in with the germans' game of "lets build cars for niches in the market nobody thought existed.... UNTIL NOW"  then... hmmm how long till we se a super mini with a crane on the back or a 1 seat people carrier

It's called "increasing sales each & every year"....................then don't understand market saturation & being content & then making money & refining the company until it all runs 100% perfect........no we want loads of money NOW!

Niche on niche on niche...................fecking fashion accessory.........................

Bit more headroom at last!!

Mainly for footballers ,b****ers and stockbrokers wifes, female executive company cars ,sorry about the sexist conclusion and possible generalisation  but that is by far the majority of owner /drivers I see in them.

Hello,

Sorry but when I see an Evoque I have to say a word loudly: it rhymes with 'rock'

When I see a well thought out post like that, so do I.

I actually don't mind the evoque in standard guise but not too keen on the soft top.

I just find it amazing that they can stick a "Range Rover" badge on a freelander with a flattened roof?

And so many buy it thinking its special!

All the running gear is 100% bog standard freelander, as a 4x4 they are very capable though.

It's called fashion dearie....

.......you philistine!

:D

Go for your life Dr.

I think they are ostentatious at best

I just don't get the mentality that says that because someone bought a car you don't like that makes them a ****.

Please explain the reasoning behind it.

It is just another rehash.  They start with functional mechanicals and wrap what the market niche they are aiming at want, around it.

Now where could we possibly have seen that sort of formula before....?

A good chum of mine has one. He's well aware that several of us think that when he's in it it makes him look a ****, as we gladly tell him when we meet over dinner :0)

Why? That's to do with many things - happy to t

yap about why over a pint. But as stated it stems from the fact they are, imo, ostentatious.

Whats your problem with Land Rovers? My problem, is when people buy pretend 4X4s just to look good. If you are going to buy a 4x4, then buy a proper one, ie a Land Rover. Your friend has, so top marks to him.

I assume if you ever got stuck outside your friends house because of atrocious snow, you wouldn't be asking him for a tow? Afterall, cant have a **** helping you out can you?

Oh wait, ive just seen what car you drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you go and buy a pretend 4x4, probably just to look good, and go round verbally abusing people that buy real 4x4s?

Honestly, if ever I saw a case of jealousy, this is it.

I'd use my own car.

No, it isn't. Not even close!

I can have whatever car I like - my partner is a fleet manager for a massive company. I've driven an enormous number of cars from Range Rovers to C1's.

I had a free choice. The Yeti is functional, not a badge and fits the kids stuff in. My partner drives a Porsche, which I don't like - she does. My favourite car is a Skoda Felicia.

Oh dear another bigot!!

Do you drive a Defender all the time? Somehow I doubt it.

As you might notice I also drive a 4x4 Yeti, and previous to that I drove Freelanders for 7 years. I was also trained by Land Rover to be an instructor for them, but according to your twisted logic I didn't and still don't drive a proper vehicle.

I do not need the capability of a Defender for the things I do, but I do need the reasonable 4x4 capability that the Yeti provides more than adequately, economically and in comfort. I have no need for 9" of off-road ground clearance, nor 500mm of fording capacity. My Yeti is also perfectly acceptable to work with 4x4 Response UK as they understand what is required in various situations.

I suggest that before you type such rubbish you actually do some research on why people buy the cars they do and why they buy them.

Where do Defenders come into it? Land Rover covers everything from a Defender to a top of the range Range Rover.

I don't drive a Land Rover full stop, I have no need for a 4x4 myself. However, if others (not yourself) are going to verbally abuse people that drive Evoques, then I shall come out with said comments against half arsed 4x4s. Yes my comment was unfair in a lot of cases, especially as by all accounts the Yeti is more than just a pretend 'ive got to look good' 4x4, and not a half bad vehicle, but if others are going to come out with even worse comments than I did, then I shall happily bite back the other way.

The only criticism of the Evoque I have made is the poor rear visibility, other than that is a very capable but expensive vehicle. However you were most disparaging in the post I quoted of owners of vehicles such as the Yeti.

Look at the choice of words you used:

proper one

To me that is a rude and bigoted comment.

If my comment was rude, then god knows what you call the post I initially responded to. In reality mine wasn't that rude.

As much as I love the current RR line up, this just isn't right is it?

But it will probably sell by the bucket load.

Chelsea tractor for the school(WEALTHY SUB) run in the summer. For the WAG or stockbrokers wife.

They will love it in Japan,China etc those with pots of money!

Amazing what you find in the sewer these days!

Eating trifles

The evoque is a car for men who fantasise about wearing their wives underwear to work. The cabriolet is for those gentlemen who actually do, and women that don't.

Wouldn't do for us all to be the same would it?  Life would be pretty boring.  I don't like Marmite!
