Bolero radio help

Featured Replies

I notice in the Bolero instructions booklet that there is a 'hide artist/track name' function in the Set-Up section. This is ticked but I get this info on only two of the discs inserted into the unit but don't get any info on the other 4 discs. They are all properly bought CDs not copied onto blank discs so I wondered what is wrong. Is it my incorrect reading/operating or something wrong with the Bolero?

By the way, all the i-pod info is correctly displayed.

Love my Yeti........,.

Not all discs have the data embedded.

BTW, why would you feel the need to hide the track etc info?

No, I wasn't trying to hide info, just checking that it was 'enabled'.

So if you WANT info you 'UNtick' the hide box?

My Bolero also only shows info from some discs - not all, I just presume it is the discs fault.

However, mine will play, and show info about, all the tracks on my SD card, but only when used on random. I can not figure out how to play music by disc. While I have read and followed the manual there just does not seem any way to access full disc mode. But it obviously does play music by disc etc from my iPod as all control is done on the iPod ( using accessory cable not MDI).

Sorry, but I don't follow.

Para 1 says your Bolero shows the info from some discs, so therefore you are playing discs, but Para 2 says you cannot figure out how to play music by disc?

What do you mean by "full disc mode"?

Info on the SD card is often "augmented" when loaded onto the original computer. If saved using MS Mediaplayer then it automatically looks on-line for a disc in the same set-up of tracks and timings and will automatically download that info. I have one CD on my SD card that I copied from a very old Jethro Tull CD so shows as a totally different artist.

Thanks for the response.

I meant that I can not play music from the SD card by choosing an album/disc - it is impossible to find disc level information. I therefore revert to just leaving it on random, pleasant enough but not always how I wish to listen to my music.

My music is all on iTunes so when I got it onto the SD card I had to convert it to MP3 in order for it to play at all.

Steve.

Steve,

Probably differs with model but I have the latest incarnation of Bolero. When you select the SD card in the display there should be a "back arrow" that will take you up the hierarchy, the SD card is laid out like iTunes as artist - album - track etc. I am pretty sure selecting any track on mine plays the album from that track onwards. I can do this via touchscreen or maxi dot/steering wheel.

Hope this helps

For 'disc' read 'track'.

Graham take an extremely longgggggggggggg extension cable with you and the kitchen kettle etc :coffee:

Sorry I should have gone earlier and looked as what I wrote was total garbage   :x

Via the steering wheel/ maxidot I seem to be able to just go backwards/forwards by track which obviously will eventually reach another album.

Via the Bolero touchscreen when the SD card is the media source I can touch the album over towards the right of the display and that does cover flow like itunes etc. If I touch the selection icon in middle bottom then there is a track listing. The clever bit is that top right is the folder structure so you can move up through the levels from the album at the far right to the media source (SD/USB/Bluetooth) at the far left. These are sort of arrow shaped icons that point towards the right and interlink. The back arrow actually sends you back to the main screen :doh

To go back to the original point, there is an online database called Gracenote, which holds all the details of CD's, artist, track names, etc. BUT it is down to the artist/produced/record coo, to provide the information and not all do. Subject of many complaints from broadcasters, disc jockeys etc.!

If you use iTunes it gets its info from Gracenote. If, like me, you buy obscure music it often isn't on there!

Thank you Graham, I thought I was going mad. I recently re-recorded to my computer a lot of my old CDs at a higher quality (arguably trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear but let's not go there). Most of them came up with the correct album/artist/song information but a couple of old compilation CDs have the correct album title and cover art but the tracks have been given different names and artists - and if these were correct would be better albums for it. Oddly the older copies which I did a few years back are correctly labelled. So that's progress for you.

I can think of none of my CDs that provide artist/track information on the Bolero system -- but then it's a very long time since I bought one!

The SD card information all pops up as it should (and this can be modified if you put the card into a PC).

My computer locked up and I had to do a reset so I lost my converter thingy for taking iTunes music and copying to the SD card..........techy son seems too busy at the moment.

You end up dependent on tech now days it seems.

May be of help until "tech support" resumes normal service, I find not feeding mine improves the response time  :coffee:

That looks like it may be of some help to me but only after a considerable period of bumbling about.

If I put the SD card in my PC and go to my iTunes library I can use the above to down load on to it?....avoiding other 'tools'?

Or am I a complete embarrassment/muppet?
