Felicia bonnet catch wont lock

Featured Replies

Popped the bonnet this morning to check water. All ok, but main catch doesn't hold or "click" when I press down.

I've taken the bar part off, all seems ok. The cable moves and is smooth. I've taken the lock part off, and with a bit of pushing I can get it to lock onto a screwdriver shaft

But I can't get it to lock onto the bar part. Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

BTW can anyone tell me why I can only upload max 1kB files?

try lots of easing oil they do stick with road salt etc then when free put some 3 in 1 oil or engine oil on as the easing oil will wash off

It might not be aligned with the 'bar' properly. I would slacken off the bolts that hold th3 latch onto the panel so it cqn move freely, then drop the bonnet gently onto it a few times to line it up, then retighten the bolts.

It might have to do with the fact you are 1 day old in forum.

Ok, that's sorted.

The cable was dry, so when the pull handle in the car was released, the cable end latched onto a different part of the handle, so although it appeared to be working, it wasn't fully releasing at the latch end. So every time I tried to close the bonnet, the release catch stopped the lock from grabbing the bar. Hope that makes sense.

On the plus side, the lock is now cleaned and newly greased, the cable well oiled, and I'm wiser. Just cost a few hours. Hey ho.

that's good thanks for letting us know its sorted it helps others
