Where does this go?

Featured Replies

Ok, this is a broken cable, and you're looking at both ends of it.

The confusing this is that on one end I've got 3 wires and he other I've got 4.

Where does the red go? Confused!

Join colours, insulate red and try it? Sorry not much help haha

^ Yep, that's what I'd do. Possibly a general-purpose 4-core automotive cable, of which only three of the cores are used in this application. Any other explanation eludes me.

Cool, that's what I did haha :)

Won't be able to test it until tomorrow though.

Where did you find it?

Where did you find it?

It's the steering angle sensor cable. Went from the steering rack to the pump, nowhere else.

Angle sensor is a three pin plug at the PAS pump therefore the red core must be spurious.

While browsing the "diagrama flux curent" for something completely different, I noticed that the Koyo version of angle sensor appears to have 4 connections, compared to the TRW's 3. PDF page numbers 659, 658 respectively. Relevant? Dunno.

All VRS have the TRW system, Koyo systems were only fitted to early 2000-2001 cars predating the VRS, mine is Koyo and the cable is integral with the sensor, on TRW systems the cable is separate with a plug at both ends.
