Rattling interior trim drivers door

Featured Replies

Morning.

I have just drove my car to work this morning and the plastic trim in the door panel now rattles. I have also noticed that the that when opening/closing the door it makes a clapping noise inside. I have had the car since September and this has only just started happening.

Has anyone elses Vrs done this?

Thanks

My sympathy to you, yes, mines both doors now. Had my car a similar length of time. The rattle started in my passenger door about four weeks into ownership. It started in my drivers door about a week ago. It's really annoying! I've pushed and prodded and can't make it stop so I'm guessing it's inside the door panel.

I only get the slapping sound when the windows down a bit so I've assumed that's the window shifting and is normal.

I can't be bothered taking my car to the dealer just for the rattle (although I have told them about it), but next time it's in there I'll get them to sort it.

My new elegance starting doing this after just 2k miles. Not just a vrs problem, the cars are all built with variable build quality.

I'm lucky though, I get the windscreen click/rattle thrown in for free.

It is annoying. Think I will be taking mine in. Could do it myself but whats the point.

I think the harder vrs suspension accentuates the rattles. Pity my softly sprung elegance is rattling then. Yes take to dealer waste their time not yours.

My vRS TDI rattles since mile 10 on the passenger door. Going to the dealer tomorrow to discuss this and the booming sound as well. Will riport back tomorrow afternoon what they said!

That would be good to know if they deal with it

Mine did this from day 1. One of my main gripes compared to O2 is the quality of the door cards. For mine it was the top edge of the door card not fixed tightly enough against the door frame so rattled especially when you rest your arm on the top edge. I fixed it myself by pushing sticky back felt between the back edge of the door card and the door frame near to the b-pillar which just tightened things up. I also managed to wedge some down between the door card and the black plastic trim that separates the door trim from the glass. I thought this was better than getting the dealer to remove/refix the whole door card as in past experience these things never go back very well after being removed!

Their is a technical bulletin from skoda relating to the front doors rattling on the side of the dash. The fix is to loosen all the bolts on the door car and pull the door card back over and this should fix the issue.

That's different to the problem with mine, the dash end was solid, it was the b-pillar end that was loose, but mine is also very early build Apr 13 so my issues may be hang over from pre-production issues that may have been sorted on later cars.

Yes mine also sounds like its from b-piller especially noticable when the door is closed. It no longer has the nice thud.

Mine sounds B-pillar, but it's really hard to pinpoint.

Did anyone get this issue fixed?

My B pillar area rattle occurred at 2k rpm on in-gear overrun for 3 months then it got worse occurring during acceleration as well. I told it that it was going to the dealer at the first opportunity to be fixed and then it disappeared by itself.

That was a month ago. Hope that helps :)

I'll join the fun and say so does mine but the rattle is very much dependant on the road surface I'm driving over which means in parts of Sussex it rattles most of the time. :(

I will put up with it until the next service then ask my stealer to take a look.

hi,

i've just got my 1yr old 2014 vrs and it has this annoying problem with the driver door. like others i've prodded and pushed but nothing seems to fix it, other than it's better with the window down. This kind of problem can really wind me up, so i MUST fix it ASAP. will be trying wedging things in here and there. did anyone find a link to the technical bulletin from skoda relating to the front doors rattling? i'd like to take a look to see if it gives a clue to where my problem is

Any pics of the rattle source? My passenger side has decided to start rattling today

My car's previous owner must have had a thing about rattles - there are bits of foam jammed in all over the place, in the doors, in the dash, centre console and behind the seats so far I've found.

have you got the sound generator on sport mode, mine was doing this when new, got it turned down to 50%, different car now no issues at all, except wind noise

i took it back to skoda who rectified the problem in 10 mins.

it was a door latch adjustment on the drivers door, a few mins with a screwdriver and all problems gone.

it was more of a clicking than a rattle i guess, but it was hard to pinpoint where it was coming from. it's been fixed for a week now and there's not been any sign of it since.
