News on Hot VRS

Featured Replies

Has anyone heard any updates on when/if the hot Octavia VRS is due to be launched ?

Hmm, looks almost exactly the same as Stealth 3, except mine is debadged... and Ive got the black grill surround...

I'd be surprised if that went into production. Vw would never sell the golf R if that came out imo. they always seem to make skoda the lesser stablemate.

You could just buy a TSI vRS estate, add the black design plus pack so you get the 19 " xtreme alloys and get a stage 1 remap done!

Exactly right, as do Revo. .....The new TSI vRS engine is very tunable (I'm told).

Oh yes you can, trust me I know  :D  :D  :D

This engine is a peach and tuneable (stage 1) to around 330bhp.

Superchips yours Telboy, IIRC and around £600.

...but it's still limited by the fact its only front wheel drive and wouldn't have the other higher spec parts developed specifically for the high powered version.

Best run was 346bhp,.....average is around 330bhp,..

As you know too well yourself, most of these parts can now be added, even the 4x4 option if you've got £10k to burn  :D  :D

. With no mods yeah right you look at nearly all the graphs and they are starting from 250 , 110 bop from a map stage one no way . I did have a modded Vrs you know , your car is a test mule for super hod so not a generic map . There used to be a guy on here that got silly figures out of his Fabian mk2 Vrs ( test mule for a running company ) he's not on here anymore since his engine went bang . You have not got the internals of an s1 or golf R but mapping it 75bjp more than that . Is your dsg updated?

Even rev. With no mods yeah right you look at nearly all the graphs and they are starting from 250 , 110 bop from a map stage one no way . I did have a modded Vrs you know

So having a modded VRS makes you the expert, yeah right, sorry mate, all the tuners must be talking bull then, I must take note and listen to you as you seem to know it all.

After all, my cars performance times must be wrong too, perhaps I only have 250 like you say. By the way, the ECU tunes for the MK3 are running 300bhp+ for stage 1, maybe you're confusing this with the MK2??

Even the plug in boxes are achieving over 280bhp, then again, they must be wrong too  :D  :D  :D

Re my edited post they are starting at 250 , why being vicereral I am only saying any tunning co can over fuel and get silly figures , but low long will it last and yours again is not a generic map ( test mule) I also said they are starting at 250 to get over 300 not they are getting 250

No worries mate, I know what you mean about some tuners given wild figures etc, however I know my cars too and know how well it is running in terms of performance so can honestly say the car is over 300 bhp by some margin.

Anyways, noticed the letter/numbers R36 in your sig strip, was that a Passat by any chance, only asking as had one myself and was cracking car if a little un reliable

All I was saying was about a generic map , (looking at yours it has that 345 ) was not dissing yours .super chips own site gives 59 bhp gain which is what I thought ht was right , but it is the torque on these cars that makes them so good , mine a mk 2 had 333lb ft of torque . Yes I've an r36 custom exhaust updated dsg mapped engine and dsg only 338bhp but much more talk and launch control much quicker , apart from new mech unit no problems , updated brakes at awesome next month too ( a fortune ) but will save on weight as much lighter than the standard 345s fronts and 310 rears

Strangely enough I was just reading about the cupra st on a unnamed car website. 280bhp and looks good, however £28.5k for a manual amd nearly £30k for the auto. Now to me that's a whole pile of money and I suspect very similar to what the vrs-r would cost.

£30k seriously? That's just bonkers money for a cupra. Still, I suppose it's just a starting point for negotiation.

The industry seems to be following Citroen during the 90s. Over-inflated prices so that when a salesperson offers a discount of around 15% to the actual intended value of the car, the customer thinks they're onto a winner and buys.

Its no the power I that I am overly bothered about its the 4x4 part of it that I want ( don't want a scout) if it was 280 BHP it would still be remapped. From my point of view anything above 220 BHP should be four wheel drive, otherwise it just gets wasted on wheel spin. looking at the rear end photos on Autoexpress the car has quad exhausts, might be barking up the wrong tree here, but the Audi S3 & Golf R have quad exhausts and they are 4 wheel drive. The Octavia VRS is the same chassis, same engine (few changes) so a VRS 4x4 makes sense as all the parts are already in use. I just hope it gets to production.

Fair point on the 4wd. It would be an awesome Octavia. Haven't yet got my petrol vRS (still on the mk2 Blackline) so I can't really comment on how good it is in standard form yet! I suspect 220bhp and a nice linear delivery of that power will keep me amused for a long time for day to day driving! Can't wait to find out come the beginning of March! !

I would be surprised that vw's "Budget" brand would get 4 wheel drive and their "sporty" brand only gets 2 wheel drive. Personally I would like to see a R model even though i suspect its going to be outside of my budget.

I think if anything happens at all Skoda might get to use Seats 265/280ps motor and maybe the VAQ diff....possibly to become the vRS+ (that they concepted way back when with the Mk2).

Problem is something of that nature is likely to start knocking on for 30k and further encroaches on the GTI and R Golfs.....I dont think VAG will let it fly myself.

4wd will not happen. Best you can do is buy the diesel scout.

As for the Seat ST. 30k is a lot but already it's discounted by £5k on drive the deal.
