News on Hot VRS

Featured Replies

I can't help wondering if Skoda are pondering entering an Octy vRS-R (or whatever they decide to call it) in some sort of motor sport to appeal to a wider audience. Maybe this is a test mule?

4wd will not happen. Best you can do is buy the diesel scout.

As for the Seat ST. 30k is a lot but already it's discounted by £5k on drive the deal.

Your probably right, but its seems daft not to put it into production, if you take out Audi s and rs models much more expensive than 30K) there's is nothing else in the VW/Audi group of that size, performance and 4x4. I just don't see how an Octavia VRS-R would take sales away from VW/Audi as all the money goes in the same pot at the end of the day. No matter how good a Skoda was there will always be badge snobs that would buy the VW or Audi.

I have no dough that the E-Difs  are good but you cant beat 4x4 traction for getting the power down.

I agree buy VAG think people will pick it over a A3 Quattro.

People who buy Audi, buy for the 4 rings.

Having driven an A4 I can say that the Octavia (even mk2) is a nicer car to be in and drive. This was fwd vs fwd.

Whats the difference between the Octy 3 and the Golf R engine ? Are their fundamental differences ?

Edit had a Google bigger turbo, injectors and few modifications to help the internals cope with more boost .

Internally I think its rods, pistons and thicker gudgeon pins for the 'R'.

It also gets a reworked head if the information I've read on them is true

How good looking is that rear end with the twin exhaust tips either side.

I was going to say that would be a nice mod to do to a standard VRs back end, but I can't think of modding my car before it's even been built!

I'd love a 4x4 vRS, but I don't think Skoda are interested in producing such a thing.

Next time I might go for one of the proposed SUVs that Skoda are on about, as my knee kills me each time I get in, so a higher vehicle maybe in order.

Kinda reminds me of one of my father's tales, the one where Enzo Ferrari shock his head sadly as another of his cars left the factory gates & said "By the time a man has earned enough money to buy one of my cars, he's too damned old to drive it"

BTW OP, I've read 34 posts in this thread & found very little "News" a lot of opinions and conjecture but, very slim on news, not entirely your fault granted however, a little more consideration in future on thread titles perhasp.

Having been reading the motoring mags, I think Skoda need to seriously start considering doing an uprated 4WD version of vRS, as Ford have now introduced the very nice Focus RS with 4WD with greater power and a similar price tag.

It could be a serious alternative to potential buyers.

There is a newer version of the haldex system coming out. It's made for the 2015 TT-RS so might feature in this

Let's hope it comes to the vRS in the next year, as I'd love one with 4WD!

Also if the new Focus RS is indeed under 30 thou pounds it might start taking a few people away from a VRS too! AWD and 320+ HP and 6 speed manual.

Seriously doubt it, after all most would buy a VRS for the space and practicality, something the Focus doesn't quite have in either guise.

Having said that, 320bhp and AWD

Too right. I would imagine it would take sales away from the golf r more than the vrs

Given the cost of an ST3 is near enough £27k, I can't see the RS being less than £30k. I'd say it will probably be £32k or more...

I do think it's time that skoda did a hot octavia vRS with 4wd and the 2.0 280 TSI and the new 2.0 biturbo TDI

... the new 2.0 biturbo TDI

  that would be great. for sure i would buy again vrs if they would have this motor.
