Company Car VRS diesel

Featured Replies

Morning Gents long time no post, I used to own a 52 plate 1.8T Vrs which I sold about 4 years ago (great car) now I'm due to change my existing company car and on the list is the latest VRS diesel. I test drove one yesterday and thought it was a cracking car except for the road noise and fairly basic interior. I was wondering (sorry if this has been posted/asked 100x) if there is a collection of colours anywhere as I'm unsure to go for the White x2 or the grey. I do 30k+ a year so it will always be dirty except at weekends. Also how easy is it to add the black pack after purchase and maybe smoke the rear windows like from the B pillar back as I have a young child that will be inthe back and wouldn't enjoy the glare. Any tips / Advice from existing owners are welcome.

Thanks guys good to be back

Black pack is quite a big task, as the whole front bumper has to come off to get to the grill, and the grill is plastic welded in. Sunset glass works well on my Elegance estate.

Go to the skoda website and use the configurator for the different colours the VRS is available in a great range now in fairness

Yeah I've looked on the Skoda website, was just wondering if there's a topic here with owners cars in various colours. Thanks for the reply

Another good source of real life pics is the trader website:)  I trawl that all the time for inspiration,,,

vRS TDi will make for a pretty good company car with its good performance, economy and relatively low list price and emissions.

Regarding your scheme is it a case of taking a standard car with choice of paint colour....so basically no choice of options?

If yes its not really like the car is lacking standard kit really in any case...the only notable ommision IMHO is some form of nav but TBF I have Amundsen on my current Elegance estate and whilst it does the job and is nicely integrated I dont doubt the latest TomTom/Garmin will likely do a better job for a lot less money. Both Amundsen and Columbus seem to have gone up by a few hundred notes each so whereas they were borderline poor value for money before they definitely are now.

For me the essentials are there....cruise, bluetooth, parking sensors.....xenons, climate and the other bits and bobs I wouldnt see as necessity but definitely nice to haves. Compared to the Mk2 its extremely well appointed as standard.

Ive shared my opinion countless times before (and it is just opinion appreciate we all have different views and wish to do different things) but for me a company car is a tool for work....its a bonus if I get to choose something I want to drive around in but i certainly wouldnt then go to town upping the options and so my tax liability....just a bit pointless. I certainly wouldnt invest my own money in retrofitting black pack and tints unless I could swing the company paying for it as an expense. If dark glass is a priority (personally I can take it or leave it and I have two young kids) perhaps consider a different car?

For e.g if the list also allowed for a Golf GT TDi 150 or Leon FR I think both those cars have tints as standard...appreciate in hatch form they arent as commodious as a vRS but just a thought.

What pipsyp said, with the addition that I have an AA road map, towns and cities don't tend to move round the country lots in my experience, so I don't even miss any form of satnav. I realise that I have a slightly kinky persuasion for black, black, then more black, but any car will get dirty as you drive it, but none looks better (imho) than a black one that's just been washed...

Thanks for all the input guys, tbh the golf is on the list but I'll have a fair few bits in my boot and will be good when I stay away to throw loads of bits in there. The black pack and tints isn't a huge expense I'm not overly fussed about a couple of hundred to sort it. Has anyone wrapped the grill and wing mirrors? A friend of mine does it for a living so would be fairly cheap but id imagine time consuming. I'd get a garmin/Tom tom hard wired once I had the car aswell so the sat Nav isn't an issue. Ref the standard kit I agree there are some nice touches like the day time running lights and xenons also the parking sensors as standard. Colour wise I'm just not sure currently! I've got s couple of weeks to decide....

Has anyone wrapped the grill and wing mirrors?

See my post above, go to post number 9 to see how it was done. Not wrapped, but plastic coated.

I see you covered everything up with newspaper, did the spray go behind the grill and on to the parts behind like the radiator?

Mine is a company car and I added a few options on it to get it to the spec I wanted, costs me £90 a month. I have silver which is a good colour if you don't get to clean it that often, I had white and black cars previously which are the worst.

I would not have been happy with the base spec car so don't mind paying a bit myself to drive a compromise car, which is what this car is to me. Very happy with it though, agree road noise is not as good as premium brands but with Canton I can soon offset that!

Not me who did it, just pointing you in the general direction of another Briskoda poster who has done a similar thing.

Try contacting the poster in the link, I'm sure they'll be pleased to help and offer any advice that may help you.

It looks to be a fairly drawn out option, if anything I'll get it sorted at a dealer afterwards. Cheers for the link
