BMW drivers... I now understand the stigma!

Featured Replies

I dont think its the latter

Can never tell an m135 unless im right behind it haha

And every 118d to a 130i has the M pack fitted, so they all look the same now.

  • I cannot understand the odd cretin who can't get the concept of zipping two lanes merging into one. Oddly enough, it's not the BMW / Audi crowd who don't comply, it's women in bleedin Corsas and old m

  • Doesnt bother me what car it is, I'll treat most the same. More likely to let a car in if its nice actually haha. Just aslong as nobody tries to push in. A brand new range rover pulled across to try

  • Funny you say that. I wont go out of my way to let a fabia out, cos theres a chance they might go 20mph everywhere haha. A risk im not willing to take haha.

Down two...... Baaaaarrrpppp....... And they're gone..... Haha

That reminds me. Off topic sorry but it was pretty funny at the time.

Milk float was getting very close in traffic at 7:30am this morning.

So i just stopped for a while. Then booted the fabia.

Ahaha. Had a right giggle to myself. Losing a milk float.

He was flashing his headlights at me aswel. Unhappy milkman.

How i loled.

That's where the true eye of the petrol head comes in. Spotting the details 'normal' people don't see haha

I struggle. Youd have to be a proper bmw nutter haha

Gotta cut the poor milkman some slack, there are an awful lot of bored housewives that need sh**ging before the end of his shift haha.

I had a similar experience on the way to work. Pulled out of my road and was trundling through my village sticking to the 30-limit when some right knobber in a corsa decides to drive 5mm off my rear bumper. He was swerving left and right trying to intimidate me. As you leave the village the road opens up into a stretch of dual carriageway leading up a steep hill. The Knobber couldn't wait to pull out into the outside lane to "take me like a king". Shame I dropped it a couple of cogs and left him floundering out there all alone like a right tool!

Surely the M Sportpack is pretty much the same for all models? The obvious ID is the size of the peashooter sticking out of the rear, though I notice BM have fitted some squashed oval tailpipes to 320ds and 318ds. Not big shiny chrome affairs that you see adorning bejewelled and bejazzled Golfs and the like, we're talking industrial grey pressed steel affairs.

since I've had the M135i things have got much better! I don't know if it's just because I have got used to it though. Might also be that the grey paint is abit more under the radar and that petrol-heads don't mind giving way so they can hear it accelerate off. :-)

Oh I always let out and give way to M135i's mainly because I want one so much it hurts...oh and I am in the minority of people who can actually spot one! :giggle:

I am the proud owner of an industrial grey pressed exhaust haha!

Although I do prefer it to the newer tiny peashooter pipes they are fitting to the new version of my car. it's laughable small! I'm in two minds to get a shining dual pipe end fitted to mine, but keep the 320d badge on just to wind people up.

Can't be getting accused of thinking my car is something that it isn't...

Best off saving the badge to put onto a m135i.

Thatll confuse em...

Now you're talking. I'd be tempted to glue it onto a 335d. Can you imagine all the sales reps queueing up to get a remap (most of them seem to do it) on their 320ds?

I nearly go into a full blown row with some old bloke in a Van because of a merge lane.

He kept speeding up to not let me in, I eventually got in front but at the next lights her decided to pull alongside and try and tell me I should have indicated to be let in..........???

I swiftly told him to look up the highway code to see the error of his ways. Merge lanes are like zips. Nobody needs to indicate as were all going in the same direction!

Hmm, there is the Highway Code and common courtesy.

I appreciate that it is obvious that you want to merge and that it can be argued an indication isn't necessary, however I think the issue here is that there is an increasing amount of road users who just don't care about those around them.

As with the van driver I look for the indicator as an acknowledgement that you are wanting to merge (although it may still be obvious without an indication), its almost like saying can you please let me in.

No indicator says to me that you intend to merge regardless of my actions. 99% would anticipate your next move and make allowances, the other 1% will think that if he can't be bothered to indicate then I can't be bothered to give way.

Then all of a sudden you have the potential for aggression or confrontation, all for the sake of flicking a lever.

Common courtesy, whether its written down or not..?

True, very true! I have ran it through my head a few times.

But I still stand that although I could have indicated, I shouldn't need to. Another point to note that during the merge lane there are two left turns onto side streets, so indicating left could cause confusion for people wanting to turn into the road. All in all its a crappy piece of road system, and if you are coming off the roundabout onto it (like I was) you are automatically put in to 'Outside' merge lane. But speeding up by the Van driver just to not let me in is worse than not indicating out of courtesy IMO.

Its people that leave merging to the last possible second to get past as many cars as possible that bug me a little.

Choba, choba.

they're doing it right

they're doing it right

Not when theyre booting it down the outside n they can clearly see its going to merge.

Theyee just tryna get in front of as many people as possible

if everyone made full use of the available road/lanes the queue would be shorter and traffic would flow better. factzipper merging

The queue is shorter when they try to push infront of me at the last second

Cos i leave em there lol.

What can sort it easily is a couple of Speed Cameras placed in the last few hundred meters before the merge,

then both or even 3 lanes becoming one or 2 can zip together nicely, rather than those in the line that is continued keeping safe distances

and others coming up fast on the outside or inside to grab a space.

Lead in to the Forth Bridge heading north to Fife merge is just unbelievable for how drivers behave.

The only solution is to close off the outside lanes for the entire length of the road. That'll give people something to really moan about.

Andypandypoos mentioned "zipper merging". I think it's a great scheme... I first came across it on Jersey and have to say it works very well indeed.

A tip for any driver trying to get out of a junction (including Beemer drivers!).. Open your window, make eye contact and smile... It works for me.

And dye your hair blonde and grow massive tits. That worked for me.

Eye contact defo works. Agreed.
