Cheap+effective mod to do on Monte under warranty

Featured Replies

Apart from a remap which i might possibly do after the warranty runs out, what other cheap but effective mods can i do that will help me gain a few bhp however they won't void the warranty?

I'm thinking of getting a pipercross direct replacement air filter in the future (not getting an induction kit) and see how that goes, what else can i do that doesn't cost much and also doesn't void the warranty?

Thanks in advance

If you just put your throttle to the floor it is good for 110 mph + is it not.

Enough to lose your drivers licence,

Enough to lose your drivers licence,

Nope not good enough, doesn't go past 100mph

Im sure you started a thread the other day worrying about getting caught doing 95mph

N now youve started one saying 100mph isnt enough for you ? Haha.

Are you sure? I've touched 100 in less powerful vehicles

Haha i'm being sarcastic as goneoffSki was taking the p*** i think. Anyway as i said it was a stupid move and i shouldn't have done it but doesn't stop me from making plans for my car.

Downhill it reaches 100 easily but flat out it feels like it starts to struggle after 95-100, after all it is a 1.2 but was wondering what cheap effective mods there were that could help without voiding warranty

Put Nitrogen in the tyres. It will make the car lighter. Skoda approved Nitrogen will not affect the warranty

Never knew that, thanks for the input. Where is it available and how much does it cost? Are there any disadvantages to it compared to normal air?

It's a 1.2 so I really wouldn't worry about extra power tbh, it's just a money pit.

Not much. Anything aftermarket will void your warranty on one part of another. ( and insurance if not declared).

Only way you can get round that is by removing stuff when taking it to the dealers. And thats not exactly ideal is it.

Just wait till warranty runs out and get a remap if i was you. Wouldnt bother with anything else personally.

Hm i was thinking that, only a 1.2 so maybe not worth investing much into it that's why i wanted a cheap mod but yeah i could either save my money or get a remap in the future if i don't find any mods to do atm

I wouldn't even bother with that tbh, of you want something quicker then just drive it, enjoy economy and save up for something a bit quicker

This.

More modding you do, less itll be worth come sale time, and the less people it will appeal to.

Itll never be a supercar. Its a 1.2 with a small turbo. Theyre a good engine, and maybe worth a remap if keeping IMO, but not much else.

Enjoy it for what it is. Save for a faster car if needs be.

Each to their own though of course

In the back of my head i've got a plan to save up and get something quicker when the time comes but i'm very impatient so it makes me want to mod my car to make it quicker haha. I may just have to stick to it and save my money, very true as well that when it comes to selling it won't appeal to as many people

I went halves with my Dad on a 1996 XJ6 Sport, 240BHP iirc, insurance was surprisingly cheap and for insurance and purchase and all the repairs we are still under £1500 on it which for such a big luxury car is great especially as it's got more than enough power

Really? I've had mine up to 110 68 before now and mine's just a 60 horse.

Yup.

My 70bhp can manage the magical 3 digit threshold of 68.5mph too.

Never had a flat out run. More effort than its worth.

If you really want to spend money for some more go, then a TMC or Bluespark tuning box will do it for you.

So are you saying we could possibly stretch it to 69 or even 69.5?

Sorry posting for the OP with what i thought was a 105ps 1.2TSI Monte Carlo Black Edition.

Yep that's the one, okay thanks, was thinking about a tune box as you can remove it whenever you want so it's more convenient
