Your best speaking to a chap on here called Jay Mitchell (I think) he's 'modded' his monte so he would be your guy.

I have H&R lowering springs on my Monte.

Ride is OK, its firm and crashy, but it doesnt bother me as the improved handling more than makes up for a slightly firmer ride.

How easy are they to fit/remove as i probably will have to go to a garage if i was to buy a set..? I can't do it if i was to jack the car up can i? It's not that simple i guess?

Well i did mine myself but on a proper 2 post lift and was so much of a pain id get a garage to fit them for you!!

Oh okay, my mate was saying he would be able to fit them if i jack the car up..but dunno if i would risk it. How much would it cost for a garage to do roughly? Cos i might want to take them off before i sell the car in a couple of years

backs are very very easy, undo shock top nuts, jack car up enough to pull spring out, fit new ones allow it to sit back down again and do up top mount bolts, fronts you need to pull the strut and use a spring compressor to change them

So if i was to get some then i would probably fit the rear myself and go to the garage for the front :D with hope it works out cheaper. Question is, will Skoda still keep my warranty if i buy Eibach ones but fit in a garage? Or Skoda have to fit them for me?

As long as genuine parts fitted by any garage warranty stays

This

Eibach's are skoda approved iirc.

Wouldnt bother with even thinkin of spring compressors yourself, if you dont know what you're doin it can be quite nasty cant it.

Rang up a skoda dealer and asked them if the warranty would be void if i fit them at a different garage or myself and apparently unless fitted by a Skoda dealer then the warranty for the suspension would be void..? I was like "hmm oookay"

Not sure they can do that.

Just has to be a competent person as far as im aware.

Did they give you a price?

Eu free market so they can sell you the correct part or you buy elsewhere and fitted correctly the springs warranty is valid and the correct parts fitted correctly do not void manufacturers warranty. But like servicing they might try. Vat registered garage etc etc.

No no price, guy on the phone didn't really know what he was talking anout by the sounds on things cos he kept having to ask him colleague and not sure what you mean George?

I asked about fitting the eibachs to my Monte, but was told that they are for he vRS only. And that the Monte Carlo springs are different

Lol saying that it rang a bell. I rang two different skoda dealers today and one said they only fit the vrs and other said they will void suspension warranty unless fitted by a skoda dealer, everyone says different things, seems like some of these employees don't know what they're talking about

It doesnt have to be a vrs. Thats *******s.

George means that if theyre fitted correctly, under EU law the manufacturer cant void the warranty.

They try it on, they talk a lot of ****, but if push came to shove they couldnt enforce it

Backs you dont even need to undo the struts!!! Its super easy fronts however are harder than any other ive done !!!

Nasty on the front struts, I only trust my own gear when working on them

Yeah. Compressing springs is a dangerous game isnt it.

One of them slips off or whatever n youll know about it lol

Always aim the compressor towards the office ;)

When getting springs get ones that are the correct ones for a Petrol Monte Carlo if that is what it is,

it is lighter than a vRS.

^good shout, will keep that in mind

There is a post here (#12) from a Monte Carlo owner who had lowering springs supplied for his Monte Carlo by a Skoda dealer, not sure if he had the dealer fit them as well though!

I had Hortons supply and fit the 40mm Eibach springs, when I researched them I was told that the 40mm were a special order and not the website??

I haven't really seen any difference in ride quality on the 17's but was truly shocking when I tried 18's.
