Hi,

I am new to the forum but been reading most of the topics in this thread. Christmas day I completely shot my engine in my Audi A3 meaning I have been left car-less since. I commute 60 miles a day and the Audi was only a 1.6 petrol, so very bad luck but I did need change!!

I have purchased a Skoda Rapid 1.6 TDI 105PS - Elegance? (LINK: https://www.icloud.com/photostream/#A25ejO179Wrww)

It's registered 2013.. It has approx 11,000 miles and as being purchased directly from Skoda Used cars they have put it through a service and I get a years warranty and AA. I collect the car tomorrow however neither me or my boyfriend are exactly car mechanics..

My questions are:

- Should I be careful of anything?

- What to look for?

- Should I ask for anything?

- Any tips?

- Basically anything...

Thank you!

Garry :)

If you trawl through the forum (Rapid) you will find most of the stuff to look out for.

One that springs to mind are mainly the rear (and fronts sometimes) doors holding water. Ask the salesman/service dept if the mod on the seals have been done. They may give you a blank look, a shrug of the shoulders, or be well aware of the potential problem. Also some reports of rear windows misting up and hard to clear, again this maybe connected to the water retention in the doors. Don't worry it's an easy fix but be aware of it when looking at possible purchases.

Apart from the above I would try and squeeze as much out of a deal, like a spare wheel (if it's not already got one) and mats, boot mat/tray and stuff like that.

Apart from the above do all the other checks you would when buying a used car.

If you can't find what you want then consider a Toledo, same car different badge, and on most, more goodies. :p

Hi Garry,

Its a good to drive value for money car once you have got some of the we nuisances sorted!! ;<)

Some cars suffered  a "low frequency booming" at low speed caused by the rear hatch stops not be set properly.

Def buy spare wheel and tools

fit rear parking sensors

Recommend accessories

Sill protectors (if not fitted)

Rear hatch/bumper protector

Mudflaps if in country

Above can be bought at dealer or cheaper at http://www.superskoda.com/scripts/autorizace.php

Hi Garry welcome to the Rapid forum. One thing to ask is what is the correct tyre pressure. In the handbook it refers you to the fuel flap, but that dosen't tell you what the PSI is. I asked the salesman that when I collected mine & he didn't know & had to go back in & ask a mechanic. They should tell you that it is 32Psi

I have the Auto SE version of Yours & I'm very happy with it so far. I got proper mats, Parking sensors & proper spare tyre without having to ask for them.

BTW the link won't work on my  MacBook Air.

Same here - link is broken alas. Would love to see some pics of the car.

if you have the elegance model with sat nav you have rear parking sensors and dab. also climatronic and the 16 inch dione wheels. change the headlight and sidelight bulbs for decent ones, but as I found out on the diesel model they are difficult to do so use halfords to supply and fit. driven properly you will easily get 55mpg+

I have the same model and I think it's a terrific car. enjoy

Just to say make sure your back doors have the seal modified to let out gallons of trapped water [emoji15]

Also invest in a dehumidifier bag for the rear parcel shelf - trust me, you'll need it in winter.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the replies!

Yeah I plan to see what extras I can get!

As per specs, it doesn't have sat nav.. But it does have parking sensors on the swing radio..

As for the photos try this link! - LINK: https://www.icloud.com/photostream/#A25ejO179Wrww

I have not encountered any problem that needs that

Hi Garry,

Nice pics,

See it does not have the rear spoiler, :dull:

Does have armrest (i miss that from current/previous cars for long runs) :envy:

Nice pictures, lovely car Garry. I like the shade of blue. Let us all know what extras you get out of them. We're all nosey round here!

Got them down on the price £50.. Haha! But it was on sale with a very good spec considering.

Got a spare wheel and mats basically.

It wasn't the best service but being only 20 years old many people don't treat me with respect so it's understandable.

However, after 2 days of using MDI with a lead this has stopped working and I am having issues with the front electric windows. Going back to my local skoda dealer as I purchased this and it was over 100 miles from where I live.. Will see what they can do.
