Nissan Juke drivers.... Why?

Featured Replies

I often see old people with fogs on, they must like wardy says just not have a fecking clue.

I have had several head bang against the wall conversations with my 84 year old father in law who just turns and pulls the switch until he can see visible light coming from the car in front of him.

It does not seem to matter what combination of lamps give him this light so long as he can see where he is going. :wall:

Unfortunately I think some things are getting too complex, as all the time his mantra is "why does it have to be so complicated, I just want to turn the lights on, why do all the other lights have to be on the same switch".

Make of that what you will, I'm beaten down and defeated after nearly 30 years of him.

  • They are a truly horrid car arnt they? The light configuration does make it look like the fog lights are on..perhaps they are not

  • It is obviously contagious. I have made the same observation. If you drive a hideous looking vehicle, why bring attention to yourself

  • Isn't any discussion beyond "Nissan Puke: Why?" totally redundant?

Buy him a Mk1/2 Escort, sorted :)

I have to say, having one, that the Japanese lighting stalk controls are nowhere near as good as the VAG ones. Fortunately, both our cars turn off the headlights with the engine, so they're just set to dipped and left forever. The fog light controls are unintuitive.

If it was only that easy......................... :D

Agreed. Japanese just isnt as good.

Then you drive an imported jap car, where the indicators are on the right stalk n wipers n what not on the left.

Didn't have to be imported. My '95 Civic (normal UK car) was the same. Very confusing moving between cars!

Really?

Thats strange. Any idea why?

My mates N reg civic 1.5li was the right way round

Saw one coming towards me with all the lights on from top of the hill the other day and i looked up in the sky expecting to be whisked away by a UFO and be used as a lab rat. I literally saw the lights and thought "okay my time has come".

Weird. Mine was a 3dr hatch. Presumed at the time that it was a Jap default that they hadn't bothered altering for the UK market.

I fear we may have gone off-topic.... ;)

Things that annoy me more than the use of front foglights are coloured LED sidelamp bulbs and cr*ppy eBay blue headlamp bulbs that shine an ill defined dipped beam in my eyes in an effort to make theire headlamps look like xenons!!

As far as the Juke is concerned, each to their own - some people bought a SsangYong Rodius!!!!!!!

Oh yesterday i found a new set of brake pads and an oil filter for my old Datsun 180B

Wonder if they will fit a Datsun/Nissan Puke?

So they have learned how to turn all the lights on...

All they need to get to grips with now is where the feck the heater and de mister controls are. :o

Saw two this morning, lights ablaze and a pair of eyes staring through the patch in the screen that's been scraped with the credit card !!

I despair.

Can you tell I don't like mornings?

But they dont need to. Theyve got soo many lights on they cant tell the windows misty.

Either that or theyre just blind anyway, so an extra bit of mist doesnt make much difference

Act your age, Ken, not your (English) shoe size

I am, at least in that I wouldn't have understood that sort of humour at 8.

Oh and "Puke" in this case is a comment on pretty much every aspect of both objective and subjective performance against an equivalent Micra or Pulsar.

My Mum's Mitsubishi Space Wagon was also the same, as I learnt to drive in it I phoned round driving instructors until I found one with a Colt which also had the indicators on the right.

Interesting theory about the indicator stalk design for the headlights, my Mum has a Mazda3 and she's left the fog lights on a couple of times and not realised it until I've driven the car - at least you'd expect it to warn you when the engine it switched on that the fog lights are on, the light on the dashboard is fairly subtle.

How strange

Wonder why theyre a different way round. Hmm.

My kia ceed had the indicators on the other side compared to everything else too.

My S-Max has funny lights too. There are the main light units housing dipped, main, indicators and cornering lights. I then have 2 circular units further down which house sidelights and fogs. In the dark quite a few people flash me thinking I have fogs on when in fact its just sidelights.

In Right hand drive cars i like my Light & Indicator Stalk on the Right, Automatic Gear Shifter on the Left.

Then at Lights, Junctions etc when moving the Gear Shifter to 'N' and applying the Handbrake,

i can Flash Someone to go first etc while Selecting 'D' and releasing the Hand Brake.

Let hand Indicators and 'Flash' on the left is a PITTA, and currently i drive 2 cars with that,

and really prefer driving the Suzuki with the Indicator on the Right Stalk.

....................

Column shifter on the Left & Indicator / Flash on the Right is just perfect IMO.
