Another Issue

Featured Replies

Well more and more issues are cropping up on a daily basis now..trivial but annoying....

I have now lost the BONG when the 'ice' alert comes up on the maxidot display....it used to bong when it came on but not today....could this be linked with the wiper issue I have?

64-plate 1.6 Tdi Octavia.

Is this on startup?  It only bongs if the alert comes on while your driving, if your switching the ignition on you only get the warning on the maxidot with no bong.

Are you sure?

I'm sure it's audible on startup on mine.

Yes, was the same on the mkII aswell.

There is no bong on startup, one while driving.

Correct my Rapid and Citigo are like this.

From P.27 of the manual.

The manual wrong, as usual.

Mine only bong's whilst moving. Never had it bong when turning the ignition on.

What's the difference between "an audible signal will sound" and "an acoustic signal sounds"?

In the first exacmple, one would assume it's audible, not much point being inaudible. To take it even further, if it's inaudible, can it actually sound?

Regarding the second, what other types of signals sound apart from acoustic ones?

Are there any credits to Google Translate in the manual?

It used to go off in a morning along with low washer fluid etc(been filled), but not today and not for a while come to think of it and its been below freezing,i have the star next to the temp on the dash,

When driving and the temp drops it used to go off but today the multidot came on with the message but no noise.

Maybe the "bong" was for the washer fluid level and not for the temperature. I'll listen out for mine next time I go out to it.

Definatly went off, 2-different audio tones

Just returned from collecting my son from school. It's 2deg outside and no bong, just visual warning at startup. The bong only occurs when temps drop from above 5deg down to 4deg or lower after the engine has been running.

Logically, the "acoustic signal sound" must be inaudible :-)

The latest manual only mentions an audible signal whilst driving.

+1

Only bongs when driving.

Does it really matter? Surely one less bong, ping or beep is a good thing.

Not to everybody..each to their own I say..just wondering why it's sometimes made the noise and other times it doesn't.

Like this morning temp displaying 0.0 with the star at the side...message comes on the maxidot warning of ice but no noise....however I know in the past when started first thing in the morning and it's below +4 it has made the noise...Anal I know..

I sure hope mine won't do it every time. It'll get old pretty fast in the winter, since temperature rarely rises above the warning threshold.

It did this on a previous car of ours (Opel Astra) and it was quite annoying. Especially since the notice covered the entire infotainment screen and wouldn't go a way without using the steering wheel buttons to open a menu, navigating to the appropriate section and dismissing the notice.

Wait until the real problems start occurring. Then you will forget about the bings and bongs.
