Well that's new

Here's one to completely baffle you, spoke to my garage (westover) about lowering the car on aftermarket springs, inevitably they said it would void warranty on suspension, but it gets even better, when I asked about the factory springs (15mm) drop he disappeared for 5 mins and came back with "the springs on the car aren't adjustable" I openly said "yes I know they'd need to be swapped" he then came out with they don't actually install Skoda approved springs (15mm drop) which sounds like horse ****, I have a suspicion that the mechanics just don't know how to.. I'll do some more looking around but seeing as the factory standard drop will void warranty I may as well say stuff it and drop it lower

The mechanics will know how to. The person on the phone might not.

I doubt if many, even any of the new generation skoda retailers dealers will have done suspension changes as booked work...

Colin I'm sat at the dealers right now, I spoke with a well suited man face to face who I saw speak to a mechanic, I have confidence there just a bit thick

arh I covered my self then by saying the person on the phone... seeing it in action does in deed change ones perspective.

IIRC, the first skoda place I went into, I asked about haldex. They had a 4x4 sitting on the forecourt. I asked the salesman about it, how it worked, fluid, shaft, etc...

I'd spent a few minutes reading about it. He didn't have a scooby doo what was under it's green shell. Which given then they only had 3 models to know was shocking. Always good to see the eyes, always have one question you know the answer to in your pocket.

Good luck, I'd definitely try one of the sponsors too. Make a road trip out of it :) Won't cost you too much in fuel. Sheffield to Ilfracoombe and back was like 60quid at height of summer fuel 2up + 60kgs climbing kit

Maybe your local dealer just doesn't want the work?? It probably wont make them any money. Its far easier for them to allegedly find non existing faults on older cars coming in for services / MOTs and making a fortune on the resulting repairs.

I actually couldn't agree more, it took an hour and half to fit just 2 rear mud flaps.. if I had the right tools it's something I'd have done in probably 20 minutes

Edit -

Been in talks with a different Skoda dealer and I got an email from the guy saying "No problem. I think even I could fit a set of rear mudflaps quicker than that! We will be happy to help." That has honestly made my night :D

I'm waiting to hear what my garage say when I ask about the Eibach's (Skoda approved) :D

Sounds like your garage's mechanics are a bunch of spanners. :P
