Waar,  depending on how anal you are about the damage you can disguise the damage pretty well with a little effort.

I had my first damaged diamond cut wheel professionally refurbished and they did a terrific job for £140, but when i got pot hole damage similar to that in your picture I decided on a DIY job as I expected more damage eventually and could have the professional job done then.

1. Dremal sanding wheel to smooth the damage flat,

2. Fine Wet and Dry wet to polish the surface

3. Dremal again with small mop and TCut to give final polish

4. Panel Wipe to ensure everything in clean

5 Spray some lacquer into a jar and use a fine (artists) paint brush to apply 4-5 coats

6. When hardened seal surface with your preferred wheel sealer

Job done and depending on how much work you are prepared to put in the repair should only be visible very close up.

I appreciate the guide but honestly, I don't have the time or inclination to attempt fixing the damage myself.

I stopped by this place on the way back from work today http://www.myalloys.co.uk/

I'm going to have them do one wheel at a time, in one colour to get rid of the diamond cut finish, starting with my spare (a full size one, not space saver).

That's got to be the answer. Much less hassle.

And with GY Eagle F1s, you at least have some half-decent rim protection.

It was £178 for the refurb and tyre, I'll check the breakdown but I believe the tyre was £108

Hmmm. I think they might be hiding their own costs there as a lot of posters had reported lower costs for those tyres but, they ain't a tyre I use.

My own refurbished Gemini's are looking quite expensive now as they'll be winter wheels due to upgrading to 19" defacto of re-ordering a 245 as I rejected it before my vRS was built & I had to justify all the extra waiting time.

Just might get my new car for the 1/9/17

Just checked, £60 + VAT for the wheel and the rest for the tyre. You can probably get the tyre slightly cheaper elsewhere but I was happy to have the same place fit the tyre, should something go wrong.
