Dvla are a pain!

So im picking up my new vrs this friday, and i get my v5 ect together for the px on my old one to notice that when i had a correction made to the 'registered keepers' section of the document dvla decided the correction would count as an extra registered keeper?!

when i spoke to the dealer i was buying the vrs from obviously i didnt count on this being the case, if i ring them tomorrow and explain the situation bets on them turning funny? i still have the cover-letter / reply letter that came back from dvla with the revised v5, think this will be a problem :S ?

anyone ? :o

IMHO I don't think they will be bothered. It's obviously a one owner vehicle and I'm sure if they are bothered they could sort it with the DVLA.

It certainly wouldn't have been a deal breaker during my many years in the motor trade.

What was the original error exactly? Should not be an issue to get it changed back if it was just a spelling mistake etc, but would require sending it back to them yourself with a letter explaining the points, dealer won't want to get into that. DVLA turn around time for such a thing I have found in the past to take a good 2 weeks min. I have had both V5C's and licences come back with mistakes before :( Won't put off trader, but might be used to adjust price.........

Hmm, thanks for the reply, the original error was that when the V5 came back after i bought it from a local garage, it had my name and their garage name in the keeper as below:

"local garage kettering joe bloggs"

prior to that the garage obviously owned the car so was under their garage name only previously.

i simply sent a letter off to the dvla explaining the situation, i recieved the new corrected V5 with only my own name on but at the time didnt notice the post-edit had been kept on record as a registered keeper...

i have already put a deposit down and agreed a price, will they really try adjust the price?

In that set of event's they made an error and should not have simply processed it as another change of keeper. They should be able to sort it and amend the vehicles record by sending it back and writing to them, but as I said it will not be a quick turn around. Whoever you are buying from, I would say nothing and see what they say if needed explain. They could use it as a method of leverage to make an adjustment in price, but it's entirely up to them. It can't be that big of a difference and I doubt they would want to loose a deal over it.

I hope you are right, the person im buying from is actually a nissan dealership, and the vrs originally came to them as a part ex for a cactus :| .

A main dealers and a returning customer..... You will have no bother at all tbh, bring anything relevant to the correspondence with DVLA and keep it in your back pocket in case it is brought up. Would only be a slight concern of someone trying it on with the price a bit, if it was some back street wheeler dealer.
