Headlight washers

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,   Where is the fuse (and which one is it) with regards to the headlight washers on a 2005 octy elegance. My near side one shoots a high pressure stream up vertical no where near the headlight and i have read on here they are non adjustable, Just gonna pull the fuse on them,,   Thanks..

You can code them out with VCDS if you want to, so they never activate.

Chances are the nozzle that aims the water is broken. It should be replaceable.

I don't know whether pulling a fuse will bring up an error light or not. The washers can be disabled via VCDS by saying they are not fitted.

However, I am reliably informed that since they are fitted as standard, they must work to pass the MOT - unless you know a friendly tester.

Only if you have xenon headlights.

They're not required for halogens.

Pulling the fuse will have no adverse effects, a few others have done it too.

I woud say just replace the nozzle, but for close to £50 I too would be pulling the fuse!

Thanks for the replies, Going to have a look to see if something can be done with it, It's just an annoyance every time they activate the passenger side blasts skyward....

Had issues with mine where only drivers side work but passenger side doesn't pop out. They can be pulled out manually as I've done so on mine. Sometimes the cover pops off but they will come out.

I have had a similar issue with my Scout, in that the passenger washer side will not extend.  I have taken it to a dealer and they removed the headlight and identified that the piston unit (£31) has been broken.  On closer inspection (very close) you can just see that the front bumper has received a very minor glance and they have attributed the break to this.  Therefore, it is not covered under warranty and to have the whole thing fixed it has to have the bumper removed? at a cost of 1.5 hrs labour - or £161 to you and me.  The part can be purchased separately from an authorised Skoda parts retailer - the question is has anyone done it themselves and does the bumper really have to come off?

Hello friends! I own a Skoda II Combi, nice car, but I have a problem with the headlight whaser jet nozzles, both the driver and passenger sides. Both of them lost a small caps (yes one each) than drive pressure-water to the headlights, so I want to replace the whole jet nozzles. Can anybody help me with instructions to desmount them? Thank you.

I'm afraid I did not know this website, but for sure I'll be a follower since now! Great job!
