Felicia cv joint

Featured Replies

I've got a replacement outer driveshaft boot for the drivers side.

It's a proper one - ie not a stretch one or a split one.

I've got the shaft free from the hub, and pulled back the old boot and I've strapped the driveshaft so it can't slip out from the inner end.

As I understand it, the removal of the joint from the end of the driveshaft is the tricky bit so if anyone has any tips I'd be very grateful.

I assume if I get it off, getting it back on shouldn't be a problem?

The bondage thread Sorry just daydreaming the thoughts of putting straps around my suspension

Anyway there is no science to getting it off hold it in line with the shaft a strong friend would be useful to hold the shaft to prevent it pulling out of the iner CV joint use a copper or similar hammer and give it a good smack on the outer edge knocking away from the shaft if your lucky it'll pop straight off the is a small clip you should replace but I haven't in the past as when the shaft is reassembled in the hub it can't go anywhere putting it back together push it on as far as you can hold it perfectly in line and smack it on the end were the threads are just make sure you use a hammer that is softer than the metal your hitting

Ok that's sorted. I used an axle stand to support the hub shaft and it popped off no problem, and made knocking it back on again quite simple too.

Not really any useful ones - I took a one of the joint before I pulled it apart (in case I got confused how it went back together...)

But I had to clean my hands every time I took a photo - once I got on with putting it all back together, I didn't see the need for any more.

Thanks for all the advice.
