Octavia Scout 4x4

Featured Replies

The need for a second car has come, it's being put thought the business and we've come across a cracking deal on the Octavia Scout 4x4, fully loaded with sat nav etc for just under £200 a month.

I'm going to see if I can get an extended test drive but wondered if there are any current/previous owners with plus or minus points on the car?

It's going to be used as a mile muncher for the long trips I do around the UK, is it a good choice or should I go for another Yeti ;)

I have a 2010 FL MkII PD TDi.

I chose it over the Yeti due to the bigger boot. (Yes, Graham, you can stack vertically, but the dog gets p!$$ed off standing on four suitcases!).

In 2013, I drove to Gibraltar from Scotland via France and Spain and the car was faultless. I was based in Gib For 30 months so used to do that journey quite regularly in my previous car, 2002 Honda Civic 1.6 VTEC petrol. The Scout was so much more comfortable and relaxing. Cruise control helped, the Civic didn't have that.

We are looking to driving to Austria in 2016 or 2017 whilst visiting WW I battle sites, and I have no hesitation in using the Scout.

Admittedly It's been the most unreliable car I have owned, but it has also been my best. I was going to chop it in, but now I'm keeping it.

Octavia estates are very roomy with a massive boot, but they do kick up a lot more road/tyre noise than a Yeti.  If you're looking for a mile muncher for long trips I would be more inclined to look at the Superb.

Give us a clue :D

There are a few threads currently in the MkIII Octavia forum with good reviews on the latest Scout (and how the 184bhp one is a vRS beater!).

Do they do discounts if you get two? For £200 a month I'll take one too!

What's the deposit and term on that deal?

£200 pre VAT?

Seems very good.

That's probably the only Mk3 Octavia I'd have.

Wow.

And wow again, that is a cracking deal. Nice find Darrell.

I would not hesitate at that price...

"This offer is available on ŠKODA Finance Contract Hire with only a £996 deposit and then 23 payments of £166 per month. Mileage allowance is 10,000 per annum, excess mileage above 20,000 will be charged at 6 per mile. All prices are exclusive of VAT.

It just gets better and better ...... as this incredible deal also includes Free Metallic Paint and Road Fund Licence for two years"

It's 3+24 £199.70 inc VAT was very surprised, it's only 10,000 miles a year so I'll probably end up paying £230ish as I'll need to increase the mileage slightly.

Can't find a downside, It's top of the list :)

I always complain to my wife that we'll never be able to replace her current 2008 Scout with a new one due to the higher prices Skoda demand these days.

I've toyed with the idea of a PCP / lease because she covers such low mileage but prices are always much closer to £300 with a much bigger deposit.

Unless I'm missing something it's a no brainer.

There are a few more years left in ours yet otherwise I would also be very keen to pursue this deal further.

Assuming the MkIII Scout is as every bit as good as our 6 year old MkII I would say that you will not be disappointed.

Good grief, that's a cracking deal!

One small glitch perhaps? I appreciate it won't matter to you Darrell but is this limited to business users only?

Thanks for all the input guys, it's time for an an extended test drive to make sure the driving position is comfy, after my last back opp it's become rather selective as to which car seats it likes!

Think your looking at a different deal?

Same car, same monthly payment.

Other than 1 year longer term and they want a whopping £6,000 more as a deposit.

That's from the Skoda UK homepage.

So Simpsons seems to be doing them with the equivilent of about £6,000 off.

Wonder if they're trying to move stock? Makes it look even better!

If the deal is correct I'll be on the phone tomorrow too! :D

Let us know how you get on Darrell.

I'd let this thread die in case they only have a few in stock :D

Sounds a very good deal, albeit being contract hire there's no opportunity to buy at the end of the term, but I guess if you're looking at PCH or PCP it doesn't make financial sense to do this.  There are still cheaper deals to be had using personal leasing, albeit with a tweaking of the mileage and monthly cost.
