So so so annoyed only owned it for 2mths apart from my life being inside it Inc work effects I've spent best part of a g on getting it right brakes/suspension etc. On a positive note the front wheel bearing and engine was next on the list so at least I've saved money on that..!!

All looks pretty standard has factory fit hid, new drilled and groved disks. Bottom of front bumper hanging down, passenger door has what looks like screwdriver punch mark and that side wrong mirror is scuffed badly. All in all a pretty standard looking car. Only other thing is in the boot window from last owner has camping and caravan sticker, poppy appeal sticker and a zoo picture with a monkey on it.. Might be helpful??

Sorry to hear the news.  Did they use the keys to take the car?

Im really sorry to hear this bad news.I live about 10 miles from you. I will certainly keep a look out for it on my travels.

Hope you get it back soon.

NB:  Im surprised they managed to get past the engine imobilser and central locking quetly.

Has the car been in a garage recently for work?, just a thought, cloned key or another floating about?..

Yeah cheers the police have been bugged by me. Yeah it visited a garage recently and hag a good bit of work done then it was send over to be valeted. I was thinking the same thing as you but I can only speculate I have no proof. On a separate note my work phone that was in the car has now been turned on it and is now ringing then going to a/phone where as this morning it was off and going straight to a/phone it is a piece of khack nokia 207 so can't track it the police weren't intrested and said it costs alot of money to track it only reserved for high risk cases which I understand but to me this is high risk..

I'm thinking the same as you.  I know the Mk1 isn't exactly the height of modern security, but to simply break in & drive off seems a bit odd.

It's very easy to get in and easy to start. I have been working on vag car's for 22 year's and over time you know the weak spots.. Im 25 miles away and will keep an eye open for it. Good luck.

Gutted for you mate, hope it gets settled appropriately however it works out. Be nice if they catch the scumbags as well.

Thank you all I'll appreciate it if you keep a eye out for me. I'm still fuming. I need to harass the police more and find out what they are actually doing to recover my car.

Will do, I'm nowhere near Herts but it's just as likely to end up here as anywhere else. Will keep an eye out definitely.

Just spoke to police the anpr camera check has been done and no sign of my car there are 4 ways out of my area to various location luton, St Albans, wgc, Stevenage and anpr camera are present along them routes. So my thinking is that the car is still local laying low or the number plates were changed and went through cameras undetected.

Gutted for you mate. Hope they get the scrotes that did it [emoji20] not much help I know but have text a few people I know in and around Stevenage to keep an eye out.

I'm working in harpenden all next week. Will keep my eyes out for you.

Gutting :(

Have you been onto your insurance company?

I'll keep a look out for it. Hope the police pull their fingers out and catch the scumbags and you get what you want out of it - be it car back or pay out.

I will also keep an eye out for you buddy.

Thank you one and all I really appreciate it. I've been out again this morning for 2 hours looking in all them places that are out of the way etc. I still think its around as the police have told me the anpr caught it near the golf course (st albans road) there are more anpr cameras on them roads but it didn't get a hit on them. I am still proper angry but I'm sort of hopeful I'll get it back but that hope it's fading hourly..!! Insurance company not much use in respects of recouping my personal items £150 from car insurance and from home insurance their limit is 500 as it's classed as extention to "garden" my items in the car. I am revisting them facts at a later date cause that's not right and my head isn't ready for that battle at the moment getting car back is my priority.
