would a petrol turbo fabia sell?

Featured Replies

The diesel engine does, admittedly, seem to fit in with the kind of car its really mean't to be. Still think its a pity they didn't do a "harder" 1.8T variant though :D

As its meant to be a budget car, then the diesel engine makes sense. However, I get the feeling a real hardcore driving enthusiast ultimately would not really choose any Polo based car as a truly focused driving machine, because none of them (even the Ibiza) are that really... that title really has to go to cars like the Clio 182 and CTR. Obviously though, the Fabia does beat those cars in other areas (comfort, quality, ride etc).

As for the ease of driving, the Fabia is easy to drive fast, no doubt, however, petrol cars often arent as bad as they are made out in this respect - because they can rev higher, they can have shorter gearing, which does, in a roundabout way, somewhat make up for the torque deficit - for example, the Clio and CTR both post respectable ingear times as a result of this (but nevertheless, still fall short of the Fabia's), but probably at the expense(?) of being notably less relaxing to drive, if thats what you wish for...

I would definatly buy a 2.0T petrol Fabia ! that would be my dream car !

When i first saw the vRS i thought a WRC version for the public would be really cool.

The wide arches etc, a 1.8T lump with 200+bhp (and maybe 4wd), a rally inspired interior (sparco/corbeau bucket seats), 17" or 18" OZ wheels filled out with huge discs and AP Racing 4pot calipers, etc etc etc......

Then you'd have a direct competitor for the Focus RS!!!!! (but somehow better.......)

I dont like seat`s. Sorry to all you seat owners on here. Shoe-horning stupidly powerful engines into a chassis that can`t cope doesn`t make a good car. Any power upgrade of a fabia should only be considered with suspension/brake mods. Seat should calm down and make a nice car first, and a fast one second.

no offence taken but the chassis can handle it and can easily cope with it handling and grip on the cupra is great aswell, 4 pot 312mm brakes up front and lowered suspension/difrent ARBs as standard etc does a good job.

i think the ibiza cupra is a gorgeous car and sporty looking, i've had a few people come up to me and say "nice car mate" and ask me questions about it!

na i wud av still went with the ole oil burner, cos of what it is,mpg is great and easyly doen my mate around mondello in his mk5 gti golf......at the mo.   i personaly am waiting to see what comes next as i will be looken to up grade in jan:eek: ....i,d absoutly looooooooove if skoda where mad enough to put a 170tdi from passat in the new furby.:D :D

Nice picture in the sig Jedi ;)

Seeing as the TDI 130 PD Ibiza has outsold the 1.8T by a ratio of nearly 4 to 1, I'd guess that a Petrol Fabia might sell but not in anything like the numbers that a diesel does..........

I've questioned and my (rally nerd) friends too why Skoda hasn't taken this opportunity.

The big manufacturers pull out of the WRC. Colin was getting towards a podium in more than one occassion.

They should've signed him up. He'd bring them some success, then they could bring out a McRae special edition. 4wd 2l Turbo. It would sell easily. lOOk what McRae did for subaru.

If they bought out a 4wd 2l turbo. (wings and arches like the WRC would be welcome too :) i would get one. Probably sell my scoob if it was good enough.

I wouldn't of got a fabia if it had been a 1.8t/2.0t. I needed a diesel runaround.

I wouldn't get one if it was a 1.8t/2.0t 2wd. Torque steer anyone?! :thumbdwn:
