Underwhelmed vs Polo.

Featured Replies

I get the feeling the fabia 3 is not selling as well as skoda would have liked, but it is selling better than the rapid when it was first released as you can see a lot fewer negative comments for it than the rapid when it was launched

My feeling, for what its worth, is exactly the opposite. The mk3 has been so successful that the factory cannot deliver fast enough.

It may be a question of pricing in the different countries of course. Or, maybe more plausible, taxation. I found my quote on what I ordered, which is as follow:

Fabia estate Elegance TSI 110 (NJ54L5)

Color moon white metallic (2Y2Y)

Detachable tow ball

Parking sensors fore and aft (7X2)

Easy start including alarm

Sunset

Black alu-wheels Beam 16"

Rain-light assistant

Foglights including curve-function

Bolero infotainment including soundsys and all the crab

Comfort pack including climatronic, cruise control

Sport package WS3 -sport seats, steering wheel etc

Winter wheels on Carme alu

Electrical motor- and cabin heater

And a few other extras, all at translated into the daily rate, £14.000.

  • Surely a slightly used Audi S3 S-Tronic / Sportback top trumps a 2014 Audi S1 or 2015 VW Polo GTI 1.8TSI.

  • SWMBO is quite fancying swapping her Fabia vRS for a new Polo GTI (1.8T) at the moment. The small boot is the only barrier to that really. Nothing in the mk3 Fabia range to interest her sadly.

  • The new fabia MK3 is a mix between platforms you could say. 50% PQ26, 10% PQ25 and 40% MQB. The MQB Polo is expected in 2017 I believe, the one currently on sale (Polo 6c) is a facelift, though they h

Sorry, I tried to edit the posting above a few times. It seems as the tablet and I are not on speaking terms today.

For the price mentioned I could buy a Polo or, god forbit, some far east Harakiri Samurai or whatever. The Polo would be without the extras and not an estate. And, to the point, not a Skoda of which Ive experienced far better building qualities than the VWs or Seats back in time.

Basic price for the. TSI 110 estate Elegance would be £11.250

it is subjective, I have seen very few new fabia's on the road, and when I have been at the dealers there seemed to be very few waiting for hand over

also when I have seen people looking round cars at the dealers they have been looking at rapid, yeti and citigo mainly, very few seem to be looking at new fabia

I agree, just doesn't feel like the mk3 is selling at all well so far! The vast quantities of tumbleweed blowing through this Fabia 3 sub forum is testament to that. How often do you see a "just ordered my mk3" thread.....? :-)

we are seeing more than positive thread and "we have ordered" threads than when the rapid was first launched

but I get the feeling it is not flying out the showrooms as fast as skoda would like, the Hyundai dealer I got my i20 seem to have much more foot fall and far busier with the same number of sales staff

the launch and reception of the new fabia is better than the rapid on here. I do find it interesting that I have now seem 2 direct comparisons in car mags i20 to fabia 3, both give the fabia the slight edge due to whole range having stop start and toys like mirrolink,

I did query my dealer why stop start was not across the i20 range and the reply I got was customers did not like or trust it?

and mirrorlink seems very marmite to me, not many phones seem to be certified and even fewer apps so of limited use from what I have seen but seems to get the fabia a lot of marks in the comparisons, but how many people will actually use it long term?

after doing nearly 400 miles with my i20 the 84PS engine is now better than my old 75PS GLII so the Hyundai 1.2 engines performance wise seem on par with the VAG units, but the 100PS 1.4 unit needs an  update, economy wise the 1.2 units seem behind the VAG units at the moment, but economy seems still to be improving mid 40's at the moment will see how it goes, trip computer seems to suggest 500-520 miles from a 50ltr tank so around 45ish mpg
