Fabia VRS Hybrid to Octavia 2.0pd 140 GT1756vk or VRS 2.0pd 170 remapped?

Featured Replies

My fabia hybrid is getting a bit high in miles now (208k) and I could do with a bigger car anyway.

I'm tempted by an Mk2 Octavia 2.0pd 140 with a GT1756vk which produces the same power as mine (roughly 220)

But should I aim for a VRS 2.0pd 170 and go for a DPF removal and a remap to get between 210-215?  .

What turbo is used on the 2.0pd 170?

And what is the response like low down with the GT1756vk and 2.0pd 170 turbos?  Will it be better than the hybrid I currently have (MD376)?

A fabia hybrid? does such a thing exist?

Or do you just mean the fabia with the twincharged engine?

Trebor has a mk1 Fabia vRS iirc, so yeah they do exist as I have one also :)

A mk1 fabia hybrid? petrol/electric hybrid?

Sorry it's a Mk1, and is 1.9pd with turbo technics MD376 hyrbid turbo

A mk1 fabia hybrid? petrol/electric hybrid?

No :D

The turbo has been made a "hybrid" basically the internals from the original/a bigger turbo has been taken out and been replaced with better parts, which in turn increases the power and torque produced by the turbo.

No electric here!

The 1756 boosts well at lower revs I'd say, hopefully Danham will be along soon as he had a hybrid and a then a 1756 on his Fabia.

The limiting factor with the 1756 on a Fabia vRS is fueling, yet 230-240hp is still achievable. With a pd170 the injectors flow more fuel so you should see 240hp+

1756 is a much better setup than the hybrid I had previously! Much faster boosted well and pulled harder for longer!

I've just swapped it for a pd170 but it is mapped and DPF delete. The biggest issue im having so far is the power is in a completely different place to the 1756 turbo. It's mapped by shark but was done in 2010. I'm not overly impressed with the map to be honest!!

All I need to go for the stage 2 map is an dpf back exhaust which I have been quoted £425 then £100 to change the shark software. The more I drive the car the more tempted I am to go for a custom remap somewhere to be honest.

Who knows what the future holds, if I have the cash I'm damn sure a 2260 turbo will find its way onto my Octy :D

What turbo is used on the 2.0pd 170?

Garrett gt1749vc or kkk bv43a. Compressor wheel is slightly bigger then a gt1749vb (pd150).

Thought I'd update the thread as I've bought a Octavia Mk2 PD140 that has been modified with a GTB1750VK turbo

In fact it is this one that was previously for sale on here:

The car is so easy to drive, the engine is very responsive low down and more tractable- completely different to my fabia mk1 1.9pd with hybrid turbo.

MPG is just stunning at the moment - not had the chance to drive it in anger yet!    Got 55mpg to work this morning which is half A-road and half twisty winding B-road - used to get 45mpg in the Fabia

Managed 68mpg on Sunday - motorway driving - trying to drive a leisurely constant 67mph, need cruise!
