Scanning Receipts

Featured Replies

Not sure if this is the right Topic forum for this, feel free to move.

Short version

Will insurance companies accept scanned copies of original receipts?

Also, will retailers?

Long version

I tend to keep receipts for major purchases; TV, Beds, washing machine etc, even after the warranty has expired for insurance purposes. They are starting to take up quite a bit of space in my filing cabinet. I am now looking to scan then into my computer. Is there any legal downside to doing this?

Many thanks,

Fin

When I was burgled, Direct Line accepted PDF copies of internet receipts, and photos of boxes for items that we no longer had receipts for, so I'd say you'd be fine.

Probably worth a quick call to confirm though
