Ideas on replacements for my Octy VRS

Featured Replies

Hi everybody

Thinking of changing my 2008 pre fl vrs as I've had it for two years, and it needs some a little work to bring it back to tip-top so thought I'd have a cheeky look at replacements.

Budget of no more than 5-8k ideally.  Have mine to trade in but have included that in the 5-8k (80k miles, race blue, fsh).  Really open minded.  Last car was a C2 vts so size unimportant.

Wish list would:

be quick enough ideally not much slower than mine,

not crushingly uncomfortable,

not bad looking (but I realize eye, beholder etc)

better economy would be nice but not a deal breaker.

Reliability would be nice too.

suggest away (please) lads & lasses.

Fiesta ST?

Another VRS?

Clio 197

As the better economy isn't a deal breaker what about something along the lines of a Honda S2000 or Nissan 350z?

Economy might be an issue on those two , 350z will average 26-28mpg in my experience and not wholly reliable either

The new one would be perfect but too pricey. Maybe to an older one, just maybe a tiny bit slow compared to a remapped vrs

not the most original idea but wouldnt rule it out. cant imagine the suspension will be that much better than current in terms of wear on anything in my price range.

Clio 197

only the Renault part of that puts me off. What's the build quality/reliability like

Not ruling them out but head might have to rule heart as I have some none motoring stuff to pay for in the next year or so.

For your inner premier league footballer.

I note that despite me searching for Sub £9k cars with 5L+ engines Autotrader suggests I might like a 1.2 Mazda 2 :moon:
