Brake Pipes

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm just in the process of buying things to change the brake pipes on my felicia. I know I need a flaring tool and actual brake pipe. is there anything else required?

Thanks in advance

Brake fluid and a bleed bottle.

Id also advise investing in some brake pipe spanners if you dont have any. A little pair of mole grips can be handy if any ends round off and make sure you have new ends.

Halfords do a kit that allows u to bleed your brakes. Makes it easy

IF YOUR ON YOUR OWN !!!

Don't forget to put the fittings on before you flare both ends, also a brake pipe cutting tool is handy and neater and cleaner than a hacksaw.

I wouldn't try flaring your own pipes unless you want to do it to learn - it's not easy.

My local High Street Motorsave does brake pipes - the last one I bought - about a foot long with fittings at either end - was about

When one of my son's car needed new brake pipes for the MOT I went up to my local motor factors (who I have used for many a year) and asked for the aforementioned pipes to be made up. I was told that they are are not allowed to make up brake pipes any longer but they can sell you the pipe and fittings. You now have to take it to a garage to have the pipes made up and fitted if you do not have the correct tools and know how.

From my experience the cheap (

IIRC you can buy the pipes allready made to the correct length with the ends allready on them.
