Steering arm rip off

Featured Replies

Hi I am posting under this heading again as the first one deleted all my text.

The other day the Roomster was serviced by ghe main Skoda dealer& I was given an advisory sheet with a couple of jobs which will need doing soon which is fair enough.

My concern is the price they want. For two inner steering arms which have slight play they want £448 plus another £114 for tracking. For one rear shock absorber bump stop they want £116.

Once I'd picked myself up off the floor I checked out the price of said parts at GSF & Eurocarparts & found arms at around 28 quid & bump stops at 7 ish.

I was thinking of taking it to my local National Tyres as believe it or not the guys there are great & tell the truth (unlike Kwik-Fit).

I was just wondering if I am being unrealistic & that is what these things cost or is the dealer indulging in some bladder based fluid removal.

Cheers folks

Nick

Any garage should be able to do those job’s I would have thought for a lot less, a good four wheel alignment can be expensive but not that expensive (~£75)

get a price from an independent...then armed with correct price estimate go back to the main stealer and ask the service manager to pricematch.......then watch his face...it will be priceless...They are taking the proverbial
