Can music on a USB Memory card plug and play through USB socket?

Featured Replies

As title says, can you plug in a USB memory card with MP3 music and play it through the Amundsen+?

If you mean a USB pen drive yes.

If you mean an SD memory card plugged into a USB card reader I'm gonna guess no.

Yes

Just make sure u try another SD card if not work!

Some OLDER SD cards or large capacity ones may not work on your Admunsen.

Yes to playing via USB. I've tested a 32gb one of these http://www.mymemory.co.uk/USB-Flash-Drives/SanDisk/SanDisk-32GB-Ultra-Fit-USB-3.0-Flash-Drive---130MB_s?notification=

Yes to playing a 128gb SD card in the Amundsen

Also I will add using both at the same time works without issue too.

However, I've just noticed you said Amundsen+ which I understand in the UK market only existed on the older models? Are you talking about an O2 rather than the latest O3 models?

Excuse my ignorance, but if you put a USB or memory stick in place, can you select any track or does it just play through from start to finish?

Is the USB port on the Octavia VRS III - USB 2 or USB 3?

Yes it plays everything one after another in alphabetical order folder by folder. But you can select the individual tracks on the Amundsen. It's a bit clunky to select single tracks but it works.

It shouldn't matter as for playback of the audio/video on any of the systems as USB2.0 is more than sufficient to playback any file on them. I have no idea which is will use. However, I'd expect 2 just as a cost saving measure in that anything more is pointless. Also 3.0 devices are backwards compatible so it makes no difference if you mix and match USB 2 and 3 devices. Just that 2.0 will not ramp up to 3.0 transfer speeds. If the Ultra Fit one I posted was of interest to you then it will play. Mine dones. Cheapest place for it is on what was play.com

There's a discount code taking it to about £10 somewhere too.

It isn't blue on my elegance so would expect it to be USB 2. As mentioned , you won't be chucking enough data through it to fully utilise usb 3 anyway.

The link should also have been a direct one but for some reason the site appears to have not allowed it. None the less, you have all you need to locate it if you were interested. HTH

Thanks for your replies.

I have a 32gb tiny usb (stick?) no larger than my thumbnail with around 1.5k songs and cover details so it looks like I can swop it from my Avensis to the Octavia without problems. I am not using an SD to USB adaptor.

I was told by the dealer that the unit in my car was an Amundsen+, if it is then it it must have been old stock if these were fitted to the 02 model. Maybe Skoda found an old car in the backyard and sent that over :giggle:

On my wife's new Rapid with Amundsen I am sure there is a 'Random' button, I have copied a few CD folders to the SD card in her car and they play randomly....... I will have a look next time we go out in it.
