ATE Super Blue

Featured Replies

Is there a reliable place to get ATE Super Blue brake fluid any more?

Looking around it seems to have been discontinued.

I could do with changing mine.

Hmm, I think I should have posted this in Car chat.

I'll request it to be moved.

The advantage of the blue though Lee was it was far easier to see when the new fluid is coming through.

Totally agree but a couple of litres at that price, you can afford to over do it to be sure. I bought three litres last night, £17.98 with free delivery.

Plus if you already run blue (like me) then I guess you'll see this coming through... ;)

yep, I think that's the reason for blue and gold. :)

Could be why its hard to get now?

For those who can't be bothered to read: SuperBlue is illegal for sale in the US because its BLUE (even though it was sold for 15years). Brake fluid must be clear/yellow apparently.

Not sure if this applies to the UK/Europe but I'm guessing Continental didn't want to make different fluids for different regions.

Have they completely stopped manufacturing it though as that only relates to the US which we're fortunately not part of. Yet.

It still meets the required spec, but just because of the blue colour it is technically illegal in the US. I thought it was over here too, but you never know

Don't know, but they make take the line that its easier to produce one product for all regions. Most sellers don't list Super Blue now and list Typ200 as the replacement.

TYP 200 (also known as 'Gold') is the exactly the same fluid as SuperBlue, just without the blue dye

It is intended as the colour opposite to SuperBlue - eg ATE designed them to be used in a cycle of SuperBlue - TYP 200 - SuperBlue (Blue - Yellow - Blue)

It has been known for 10yrs+ that SuperBlue should *NOT* be used in a VAG vehicles with hydraulic clutches, as the blue dye rots the clutch seals

Cheapest outlet for TYP 200 is direct from ATE in Germany, via their ebay shop
