Eibachs finally fitted!

Featured Replies

Finished fitting the rear springs to my fabia and all i can say is what a transformation! Not only does the car look great it handles soooo much better. Hardly any body roll, much more direct steering (i have a strut brace too), very firm ride but not harsh at all. Copes with pot holes and dips and hump back bridges  with ease! The only thing i was wondering is about having the wheels re-aligned. Is it necesarry and can the rears be altered anyway? There is a suspicion of negative camber but not a great deal.

Also fitted a tuning box too. My trip computer now says i was averaging 60mpg when i was driving steady. Surely this canot be right as the tuning box over fuels and as such can only make you use more fuel? Is this an error caused by the box or is is true?

Anyway, i`m well happy with the car now. See how this goes then maybe a proper remap and 312mm brakes? Only if i can stop gaining points on my licence! :(

I'd do the brakes first (well, next really  )

A tuning box can certainly confuse the fuel consumption indicated - some remaps apparently (I cannot confirm it as I have neither a tuning box nor a remap right now) 'do something' to make the reading roughly correct again.

Is the ride much firmer when driving at lower speeds as well?

yes its firmer but acceptable. in fact it only feels as firm as my mate`s octavia elegance. that always felt much firmer tha my vRS.

sounds good mate:) do you have any before and after pictures?

Thanks for the feedback

I am hopefully going to get all this stuff on soonish - we had a Rover 100, so comfort wasnt really that high up on the list at that point :P

Just need to get the exhaust & Eibach GB stuff delivered now, then get my insurance sorted out and start fitting the bits :D

You know where to come for the brakes! ;)

Sounds like a good transformation!

Fitted another set of your 312mm's today, keep em coming :)

Fancy doing mine? ;) They're still sitting there all green in the front room. Think they're trying to grow arms to give me the finger and taunt me even more.

Bring it over, be more than happy to :)

Whereabouts are you in the country? PM me back if you prefer ;)

If anyone wants any help in the South I'm more than willing to assist.

I'm down south - near Oxford :)

It's gonna be a fairly long list on mine though, with Eibachs, FMIC, Blueflame, the undertray to be fitted at some point. Calipers are not painted (yet) though & some stuff is still underway - few weeks probably.

Will be ringing my insurance broker on Monday to ask for 'what I am allowed to do' info - may have to change insurers first :(

I have done 312's, Eibachs and undertray. An exhaust is an exhaust so should be no problem there just the FMIC I've not touched.

Didn't realise you were so close I am in Milton Keynes (lummox works in MK to)

If you've any doubts on Eibach with standard dampers your welcome to try mine out :)

@walkie - They're already on order :thumbup:

The big job now is to get the insurance sorted out without loosing the proverbial arm/leg. The 3 points I gained this year due to my careless overshooting of the speed limit  will probably cost me a bit as well, I generally avoid excessive speeding of course :)

Working on a good way of fitting bits & pieces. I have a feeling brakes + suspension will require someone knowledgeable, whereas the undertray and possibly FMIC, seemed like things I could do myself. Stu & I have exchanged a few PMs on the topic ;)

My mate has a garage (very) nearby, may give him a shout see if he is able to fit me in. I was recommended to paint the calipers and leave them for 24 hours to harden the paint, so I'll probably detour past B&Q tomorrow evening if I manage to get back before 8pm, grab some of that Hammerite Smooth Green :D
