Thanks all.  So £166 at CYC for Menernza, or £150 at LE for LE stuff.

Which one? :D

Have you looked into buying the DA @ £99.95 & then buying individually elsewhere. The kits are ok if you are doing lots of different cars. But if it's only for you then you might find you wont use all of the polshes/pads.

If it helps, Ive used Menzerna products..They are very good indeed

So I would use CYC..I have no experince of LE products at all

I did think of this, but I just figured the kits would be better value.  In honesty, I can only see me using it as a polisher, two or three times a year.  It will be mainly for sealer/wax use.

So if I were to just buy the DA machine, what polishes and sealants would you recommend for machine use?  I could use the money saved to get  some 4" pads also.

I'm not sure what car you have, so recommending polish is a bit tricky. Also no idea on what you are trying to achieve. If you have medium/hard paint then Scholl s17 is a good one.

I only apply waxes & sealants by hand (applicator) which is generally what they are designed to be applied with.

As NM says...Sealants and waxes are best applied by hand

So if youre only going to polish every so often, a cheap alternative will be best

I have a Silver 59 plate Octy vRS. I thought DAs came with pads designed for waxes etc?

The pads are for polishing, ie Scholl S17 for example. Each different coloured pad offers a different grad of correction from heavy cutting down to a finishing pad.

With all due respect, you may find this of some help http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/car-care-advice.html

Brilliant thanks.  I've had to zoom in to 175% on that site as the text is so small!  Safe to say going off that guide that Skodas have intermediate hardness paint and I'd be good to go using Menzerna Super Finish (106FA)?

The best polish I used on my DAS6 Pro was Sonax 04-06 hands down.

Medium Pad and Medium Polish ( I use Sonax Profiline) ..Finish off with a Finishing Pad and Finishing Polish (Menzerna 5000 I think it was, I used last) (if you want ultra shine) on Skoda Paint

Yes. That's it

Very nice polish

Thanks.  The DA machines on their own don't come with pads though do they? Just a 6"/15cm backing plate?

So I'll need to get the machine, a medium pad or two, the Sonax polish, some IPA, and perhaps a better sealant than JS109?

Get the DA on the group buy at £99.95 delivered as that comes with a 5" backing plate. You can then use the 5.5" (not 6") pad in your link. You'll need more than 1 though.

Then you'll need a smaller backing plate for the spot pads.

You need IPA diluted to circa 1:5 or CarPro eraser to wipedown after polishing. Even water based polishes need wiping down as although they are not oily, they have a filling capability. Only by wiping down will you get a true reflection of your hard work.

Thanks NM.  What is the group buy and would I need to wait for a full group?

Several pads and polish are going to rack up to £50 quite quickly though, which is verging on similar kit prices?

Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure I'm getting the right stuff.  Also, do I have to have the pro model? What does it have over the DAS6 at £80?

the group buy is now more like a long running special. Essentially its a discount code for the one product, so no you do not need to wait for a group.

Bought the DAS6 Pro plus last night.  There was a deal going down on a facebook group.  DAS6 Pro plus (on its own) with 5" extra backing plate - £140 inc delivery.  I had to snap one up really. :)  Be interesting to see how it compares to my normal DAS6 as has bigger throw and I bet is a wee bit more powerful too.  Should be a good 2nd stage machine I hope.
