How to get 280-300bhp?

Recommended Posts

This type of discussion came up alot when I used to browse the Saabscene forums, upgrading the standard 225bhp Saab 9000 Aero engine to 300bhp. One of the common complaints was that the clutch and gearbox started to give out more frequently with all the extra power. Is that something you guys need to be considering?

the cluch on the vrs is pretty poo! plus tbh its all well and good getting 300bhp out of the octy but really you need to spend the money on:

coil overs, or sorta same thing that gives better handling

decent turbo back exhaust

filter

remap

FMIC

Some bloody good tyres

and last but not least decent set of breaks.

this combination will give a decent bhp car that will be fun to drive. 300bhp in a octy will be wicked in a straight line but pants into a corner. with the above combination i think that will be a bloody fun car!!!!

remember high bhp doesnt always make a fast car, the curve is more impartant!!!!!

good 2-3k spent!

For 10k' date=' why not buy a Jap import Scooby/Evo which will come with that sort of power as standard? :D

Sorry to dampen it but Ive been there with a Scoob, High Insurance, has to run on Optimax + Octane booster + sub 20 mpg & has to be kept really on tune otherwise the Engine falls apart, Only buy an Import IMO if you have deep pockets.

I only used the scoob a s a fun car & ran a Diesel as well
